Joseph Noussair Obituary

Joseph Thomas Noussair, 55, of Alexandria, Va., passed away suddenly Friday, April 7, 2023.

Born Jan. 3, 1968, in Beirut, Lebanon, he was a son of the late Nabih and Miriam Thomas Noussair.

A graduate of Wyoming Seminary, Spring Garden College and Catholic University, Joseph has lived in the Washington, D.C., area since 1990.

He will be greatly missed by his brother, Charles Noussair; sister-in-law, Katia Soriano; niece, Linda Sabrina Noussair; his many cousins; and other family and friends.

Celebration of Joseph's Life begins with visitation from 6:30 to 9 p.m. Friday at McLaughlin's, 142 S. Washington St., Wilkes-Barre. It continues with a funeral liturgy at 10 a.m. Saturday in the Church of St. Anthony & St. George, 323 Park Ave., Wilkes-Barre. Burial will take place in St. Mary's Cemetery.

Joe and I would visit each other in Paris and Virginia. This Lebanese-American Christian was the hallmark of generosity. Crossing the Atlantic from Paris, I usually stayed in his apartment - where he always let me have his bed, my being much taller than him, while he settled on the sofa.

With his red mini (stealthy vanity plate BSP8R only understandable to German-speakers), we would take a road trip to visit a Civil War battlefield or other historical site, such as Fredericksburg or Harpers Ferry.

At home he liked to watch old black'n'white comedy TV shows from the 1960s and 1950s (which I had never heard of), which had him roaring with laughter...

Bis später, Joe; Bis später...

We are so sorry to learn of the sudden loss of Joseph. Miriam and Nabih were dear friends of our family and we grew to feel close to Joseph and Charles by listening to so many stories told with such pride and love by their parents. Our sincere condolences to Charles, Katia and Linda Sabrina, all extended family and prayers for strength and peace in the difficult days ahead. Much love to all!

Joe was a unique soul full person who always had time for a chuckle, to share his vast knowledge of world politics and art. He had a passion unmatched - and will be dearly missed - I love you Joe

Evelyne and family:
I´m so sorry to hear about the passing of your beloved cousin, Joseph. I have fond memories of talking to him about the architecture in Europe and our shared love of the temple of La Sagrada Familia by Gaudí in Barcelona. Keeping everyone in our thoughts.
