Joseph Sudo Obituary

Joe "Maxie" Sudo passed away in his home in Muhlenburg unexpectedly on Monday, Oct. 30, 2017, at the age of 74.

Joe was born June 1, 1943, in Wilkes-Barre, to his parents, Peter Sudo and Mary Piech Sudo. He grew up in the Buttonwood section of Hanover Twp. and graduated from Hanover High School in 1961.

Joe graduated in 1965 from King's College with a bachelor's degree in political science. Upon graduation from King's. Joe served four years of service in the U.S. Air Force.

Joe married his high school sweetheart, Judy Chulick Sudo, in 1966.

Joe owned a Nationwide Insurance agency in Muhlenburg for 30 years and retired in 2005.

Joe is survived by his wife, Judy; children, Joe Sudo and wife, Suzanne, Annapolis, Md.; Dave Sudo and wife, Debbie, Clarks Summit; Greg Sudo and wife, Michele, Woodstock, Md.; Tracey Schwab and husband, Dave, Lansdale; and Ronald Sudo and wife, Marcia, Cheswick; and brother, Jerry Sudo, Crossville, Tenn.

Joe was preceded in death by his brothers, Edward Sudo, Danville; and George Sudo, Fife, Wash.; and his grandson, Joey Sudo, Annapolis, Md.

He was an active and dedicated member for many years in the Lions Club of Hunlock Creek. He was passionate about the "leader dog" program for the visually impaired.

Joe enjoyed his retirement by spending time with his grandchildren, Joey, Jessica, David, Luke, Danica, Max, Britta and Avery. Joe enjoyed crossword puzzles, Sudoku, tailgating at college football games, Florida winter vacations, cooking, quality kielbasa, polkas and golfing.

Funeral services will be held at 9 a.m. Saturday from Charles L. Cease Funeral Home, 634 Reyburn Road, Shickshinny, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. in Holy Spirit Parish/St. Martha's Church, 260 Bonnieville Road, Stillwater.

Friends may call from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at the funeral home. All are welcome to attend and celebrate Joe's life.

In lieu of flowers, please send donations to the Joey Sudo Memorial Fund at 4 Marvin Road, Shickshinny, PA 18655.
