Joseph M. Wolinsky, 95, of Swoyersville, was reunited with his family in eternity on Tuesday, Dec. 12, 2023. He passed away peacefully at River Street Manor, Wilkes-Barre from age related difficulties while recovering from a recent hip replacement surgery.
He was the youngest child of Wasyl and Mary Demitrisum Wolinsky, born on Aug. 13, 1928, in Swoyersville.
Joe was an active member of St. Vladimir's Ukrainian Greek Catholic Church in Edwardsville, helping with many tasks. He was a member of the North Anthracite Council, League of Ukrainian Catholics of America.
Prior to his hip pain, he lived his entire life independently at the family homestead. He worked as an upholsterer at Craft Associates, Wilkes-Barre, and retired from Custom Designs, Kingston.
Joe never let his lack of sight in his right eye stop him from doing what he wanted to accomplish. He always had a task to complete for the day. He enjoyed watching sports and loved to explore on his computer.
Besides his parents, Joe was preceded in death by his first wife, Mary Krull Wolinsky; and second wife, Myrtle C. "Pete" Angstadt Wolinsky; brothers, Michael, Charles, Richard, Steven and John Wolinsky; sisters, Anna Orrson and Mary Litwak; a sister, Rose Barbara Wolinsky, who died from the Spanish Flu; and many other close family members.
He is survived by many generations of nieces and nephews.
A Divine Liturgy Mass of Burial will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Ss. Peter and Paul Ukrainian Greek Catholic Church, 635 N. River St., Wilkes-Barre. Family and friends may visit from 10:30 a.m. to service time. Following Mass, internment will be in St. Mary's Byzantine Catholic Cemetery, Lake Street, Dallas.
Lehman-Gregory Funeral Home, Swoyersville, has been entrusted with arrangements.
The family would like to thank the nursing staff at River Street Manor for the care they gave Joe.

The Pearsall family extends our condolences to the family of Mr. Wolinski. Speaking for myself, Joe was always one of the first people to extend a hand and a smile when I would come to the factory with my father and his smile was sincere. Jim Pearsall
