Some people only walk this Earth for a short time; their departure reminds us that angels are watching over us. Lisa Dunay Litchkowski, 56, of Shavertown, rejoined her heavenly family and gained her wings on Tuesday, April 5, 2022.
She was born in Wilkes-Barre on June 27, 1965, the daughter of the late John G. and Elizabeth A. Thomas Dunay Sr., both of whom preceded her in death and whom we are sure welcomed her home with a loving hug and kiss.
Lisa's greatest loves were her two surviving children, Allie Litchkowski (her significant other, Gary Stavish Jr.), West Wyoming, and Adam Litchkowski, Ashley. They meant the absolute world to her, and if you ever spent time speaking with her, you know that she never missed an opportunity to brag about her children or to say how proud she was of all that they both accomplished. Second to her children, her biggest supporters and loves were the other members of her family, sisters, Susan Shortz and husband, Thomas, Wilkes-Barre; Lynn Matysczak and husband, Damian, Ashley; brother, John Dunay and his wife, Debbie, Hunlock Creek; nephews, Joshua and Kyle Dunay; and niece, Jessica Meyers. Lisa was the incredibly proud godmother of Joseph M. and Stephen R. Rowley, Wilkes-Barre.
Lisa's witty humor, contagious smile, kindness and generosity were undoubtedly why she had so many loving, caring friends throughout her life. Lisa's favorite moments were spent in her kitchen cooking delicious foods such as her famous crab soup or baking her delectable pumpkin chocolate chip cookies. If she couldn't be found in the kitchen, she could be found curled up on the couch with her fur babies, fuzzy slipper socks and house-coat with a book in her hand.
Lisa was a member of the graduating class of 1983 of Hanover Area Junior/Senior High School. She went on to further her education and received dual Bachelor of Science degrees in communications and social work from Wilkes College and subsequently her Master of Business Administration from Misericordia University. Throughout her professional career, Lisa worked for CEO, Dunay Jewelers, Schering-Plough Pharmaceuticals and Gift of Life Donor Program.
Private funeral services will be held at the convenience of the family. Interment will be in St. Mary's Cemetery, Hanover Twp.
In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made in Lisa's memory to Blue Chip Farm Animal Refuge, 974 Lockville Road, Dallas, PA 18612; or to Gift of Life Family House, 401 Callowhill St., Philadelphia, PA, 19123.

Lisa and I were friends in high school and continued to keep in touch even now. Lisa is a beautiful person inside and out, and was always a good friend. Never a selfish bone in her body. She will be sadly missed by me, by many. I send hugs and prayers to Lisa's family, they are in my thoughts. Rest my dear friend, rest....

It is with much sadness and a heavy heart that I send to Lisa's whole family love, hugs, and deepest condolences. Lisa was like a sister to me and saw me through very hard times as I did with her! I am going to miss our daily talks and her passing leaves a hole in my heart that could never be filled! She was such a beautiful, loving, intelligent, and extraordinary person and lady! My condolences especially go out to her children, Allie and Adam! Lisa is joining her Mom and Dad! God has just received the world's sweetest angel! Rest in peace, my sister, knowing you will be on my mind everyday! Love to her entire family, knowing God will comfort them in this most difficult time. As we said to each other after each conversation, "I love you, sister"!
