Dear Annette and family, My sincere sympathy goes out to you and all your family on the death of Marty. I did not really know him well, but had heard only good things about him. Annette, I graduated with Marty and only remember him as a "genuine guy"! I ran into him a few times over the years but I will NEVER forget how he came to my son's wake! My son died in Dec 2006 in an auto accident. He offered his help with any questions we had about insurance! I last saw him in the summer @ Price Chopper in W-B. He told me about his illness & I wished him well! You & your daughter will forever have a gaurdian angel in heaven!

Marty and I have been close friends since he was 3 and I was 5. We played hundreds of baseball and wiffleball games together over the next 15 years, not to mention all the N Y Yankee games we listened to on the radio or the Micky Mantle conversations we had. Marty was always fair, gentle, and a real gentleman, always totally respectful of women, during an age that was lacking in such virtues. Much of that he learned from his father. I will always treasure all the times his family invited me to interact with them. No other family I knew was so giving. I write these words at the Grove City, Ohio library computer, and as I finished reading the obituary and other messages documenting Marty's continuing love for baseball and the many other friends and folks that passed thru his life, my eyes saw the title of a book on little leage basball that was being featured on a shelf just a few feet away. I was struck how the title of that book so perfectly described the life and legacy of the man I was proud to call my friend all these many years comprising six decades. The title was " SIX GOOD INNINGS".

I met Marty in 1985, when I started working for Crawford and Company. Marty was a kind, gentle, understanding and patient man. He was a "family man" and spoke highly of each of his family. He took me under his wing and, as we got older, we could see times changing. I'm glad that I got to speak to him last week and that I got to know him as a man, fellow employee, and the person that he was. My thoughts and prayers are with the entire family.
