Mary Pringle Obituary
Mary Alice Pringle, formerly of Kingston, passed away Wednesday, Sept. 16, 2015, in Wilkes-Barre General Hospital surrounded by her loving family.
A life resident of Kingston, Mary Alice was born Aug. 16, 1926, the daughter of the late Michael J. and Alice McHugh Kelly. She was a graduate of the former St. Ann's Academy, Wilkes-Barre, Class of 1944, and attended the Wyoming Seminary Dean School of Business, Kingston, and Penn State University, Lehman campus.
Mary Alice was employed for several years by Catholic Charities as a social worker, and until her retirement as a case worker by the Commission on Economic Opportunity, both located in Wilkes-Barre.
Mary Alice was a member of St. Ignatius of Loyola Parish, Kingston, where she served as a Eucharistic minister and belonged to Mary's Ministry.
She was a member of the St. Ann's Academy Alumni Association and the Serra Club of Wyoming Valley, where she served as vice president of communications. Mary Alice served as secretary to both the former West Side Central Catholic High School Mothers Club, Kingston, and the former St. Ignatius Boy Scouts Auxiliary. She was a volunteer at the St. Vincent de Paul Kitchen, Wilkes-Barre.
Mary Alice was of full Irish heritage, as both sets of her grandparents immigrated to the United States.
She was predeceased by a daughter, Mollie DeLauretis, on Dec. 18, 2008.
Surviving are her husband, Joseph V.; children, Joseph Jr., Wilkes-Barre; Kathleen and her husband, Robert Kester, D.D.S., Shavertown; and Anne and her husband, Jack Lenahan, Kingston; grandchildren, Catherine Pringle, Wilmington, Del.; Jamie Kester Maher, Esq., and her husband, Andrew, Esq., Pittsburgh; Dr. Kelly Kester Finn and her husband, Jeremy, Havertown; Dr. Christopher R. Kester, Philadelphia; Ryan Padric Pringle and his fiancée, Alicia Magda, Kingston; Meghan Lenahan, Kingston; Michael DeLauretis, Manhattan, N.Y.; and Tricia DeLauretis, Schwenksville; great-grandchildren, Charles and Robert Maher and Jeremy and John Finn; and nieces and nephews.
A special thank you to Dr. Charles M. Manganello, Rita and Katie, St. Therese Personal Care Home and staff and the staff at 5 East, Wilkes-Barre General Hospital, for the compassionate and loving care given to Mary Alice.
Friends are cordially invited to a visitation with the family from 4 to 8 p.m. Sunday in the Hugh P. Boyle & Son Funeral Home Inc., 416 Wyoming Ave., Kingston.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Monday in St. Ignatius of Loyola Church, North Maple Avenue, Kingston.
Interment will follow in St. Mary's Cemetery, Hanover Township.
