Myron Pitcavage, 76, of Shavertown, passed away Saturday, March 5, 2022, peacefully surrounded by loved ones at his residence.
Myron was born in Edwardsville, the second son of Joseph Pitcavage and Stella Cardish Pitcavage.
Myron graduated from St. Hedwig's Grade school in 1959, West Side Central Catholic High School in 1963, and King's College in 1968 with a bachelor's degree in biology - general science.
Myron married his high school sweetheart, Mary Therese Koval, July 6, 1968, and started teaching at West Side Vocational-Technical School in September.
Myron was a yearbook advisor, student council advisor, class advisor, and boys and girls volleyball coach. Myron retired after 34 years of teaching. In retirement, Myron enjoyed working at his home, especially building rock walls, cutting down trees and cleaning up brush.
Myron would like to thank his close neighbors and friends for all they did for him, the home cooked meals made him feel welcome. Myron also wanted to thank the staff at the Geisinger Wyoming Valley Oncology department and Hospice of the Sacred Heart for helping him through his difficult times.
Myron's long love for animals continued through his life. Myron adopted his "best buds" Hank and Dorothy from Blue Chip Farm Animal Refuge in 2017. Myron credits his uplifted spirits to the love and affection Hank and Dorothy shared with him throughout the years.
Throughout his life, Myron had touched so many lives through teaching, coaching, advising, as a friend, parent and grandparent. Myron's words of wisdom and friendship will be missed by all. He is well loved and will live on in the hearts he had touched forever.
Myron is survived by his three children, Heather, Holly and Myron; his grandchildren, Michael, Norman, Genevieve, Benjamin, Elizabeth, Alyssandra and Zachary; and his great-grandchildren, Eddie and Sawyer.
Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Friday at Harold C. Snowdon Funeral Home Inc., 140 N. Main St., Shavertown. Interment will follow in Mt. Olivet Cemetery, Carverton. Friends may call from 11 a.m. until the time of service Friday at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be sent to Blue Chip Farm Animal Refuge, 974 Lockville Road, Dallas, PA 18612; or Hospice of the Sacred Heart, 53 Glenmaura National Blvd., Suite 120, Moosic, PA 18507.

Please accept my sincere condolences. He gave everyone he met beautiful memories. Keep yours in your hearts and you'll always have him near. I graduated from WST in '72. He was a perfect combination of teacher and friend. He sparked my amazement for Science, and it has continued my entire life! He did that with his passed on knowledge as well as his humor. Both of my sons (classes of '94 and 2000) were lucky enough to be taught by him also, and loved him. RIP, with the angels Mr. Pit.

I only had "Pitcavage" my senior year which was his last year of teaching.
He was a great man and a wonderful teacher. I remember sitting in his 9 AM class on 9/11/2001 and him turning on the TV to see the plane crash into the twin towers.
The whole class was saying the engines must have blown. I remember this next moment vivdly and will never forget it. I said guys, a plane just does not crash into a building on a clear day.
He said " I hope you are not right but I think you are".
It was something watching the events of 9/11 unfold in his class.
He kept us all calm. I am sorry for your loss.
