Peter Hohol Jr., 92, of Luzerne, passed away peacefully Thursday, Sept. 21, 2023, at Tiffany Court surrounded by family.
Born in Pringle, he was the son of the late Peter and Susan Bindas Hohol. As a teenager, he was a member of the Pringle Fire Department Bugle Corp and graduated from Pringle High School.
Peter entered the Armed Forces in 1950 as a military policeman in the U.S. Air Force. He served overseas for two years in England during the Korean Conflict. He was honorably discharged in September 1953.
Like his brothers, Peter was a jack-of-all-trades, and could fix or build just about anything. He worked in facilities/maintenance throughout his career for several local companies, including Natona Mills, Stegmaier and Mercy Center. He was a lifelong member of St. Mary's Byzantine Catholic Church.
Peter was an avid bowler, playing in several leagues throughout his life, well into his 80s. He also had a love for golf that started during his teenage years, working as a caddy at Irem Temple Golf Course. Peter spent many spring and summer days playing golf with his brother, Emil and following his beloved Phillies.
In addition to his parents, Peter was preceded in death by his sister, Anna Judge; and his four brothers, Joseph, Michael, John and Emil.
Peter is survived by his two daughters, Sharon Marini and her husband, Bob, Rochester, N.Y.; and Linda Decker and her husband, Jeff, Mountain Top; grandchildren, Jonathan (Emily), Jeffrey (Sarah) and Joshua Marini; sister-in-law, Veronica; and several nieces and nephews.
The family would like to thank the entire staff of Tiffany Court for their compassionate care while residing there the past six months. The family is forever grateful.
The funeral will begin at 9:30 a.m. Monday with a Divine Liturgy at 10 a.m. in St. Mary's Byzantine Catholic Church, Chestnut Avenue, Kingston. Interment will be in St. Mary's Byzantine Catholic Cemetery, Pringle. Family and friends may call from 4 to 7 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.
