Robert Ceccoli Obituary

Robert L. Ceccoli, 90, passed away peacefully in the presence of his loving family at the Celtic Hospice Center on Thursday, Aug. 27, 2015.

He was born in Hudson on Dec. 5, 1924, to the late Louis and Elizabeth Ceccoli, the founders of the nationally renowned Victory Pig Pizza. He graduated in 1943 from Forty Fort High School, where he excelled as a multi-talented athlete, most notably as a wrestler.

Robert en listed in the U.S. Marine Corps after high school and proudly served his country during World War II. He was a veteran of the Pacific theater and a testament to the strength of his generation.

He was an accomplished body builder and winner of the Mr. Anthracite competition. He was a pioneer in the field of weight training long before local gyms became commonplace, even building his own fully stocked gym in the basement of his home. He hosted and helped train many award-winning body builders in this gym, including Mr. Universe, Frank Zane. He also offered access to his gym and coached many local athletes with nowhere to train.

He is survived by his loving wife, Mary, with whom he enjoyed 68 years of marriage; his son and daughter, Richard and Donna Ceccoli; as well as six grandchildren, Richard, Robert and Randon Ceccoli and Dustin, Ashley and Nicholas Doudna.

The funeral will be held at 9 a.m. Monday at Hugh B. Hughes & Son Inc. Funeral Home, 1044 Wyoming Ave., Forty Fort, with a Mass of Christian Burial at at 9:30 a.m. in St. Barbara's Parish, 28 Memorial St., Exeter.

Friends and family may call from 4 to 7 p.m. Sunday at Hugh B. Hughes & Son Inc. Funeral Home.

Robert was devoted to his family and a perfect example of what it means to be a patriarch. He had a fair mind and a gentle soul and he will be missed dearly by those that knew him and loved him.
