Robert W. Hess, 86, of Ashley, passed away Friday, Jan. 5, 2024, at his home, surrounded by his loving family.
Born in Ashley on March 19, 1937, he was the son of the late William & Helen Phillips Hess.
He was employed by Topps Chewing Gum Company, Duryea, until his retirement. He was a former member of the Ashley Fire Company and the Ashley Ambulance Association. He was a member of the Ashley Sportsman's Club and the Dutch Mountain Land Owners Association. Bob was an avid sportsman who loved to hunt and fish, but more importantly spend most of his time in the great outdoors.
He was preceded in death by his sisters, Betty Polons and Doris Bowers; and his brother, William Hess.
Surviving are his loving wife of 67 years, the former Marion J. Zelinski Hess; daughters, Sandra Gildea and her husband, Sean; Lynne Albee and her husband, Arnot; and Susan Bresnahan; son, Robert Hess and his wife, Bernadette; grandchildren, Jessica, Ryan, Tyler, Robert, Justin, Jill, AJ, Jason, Jared and Tessa; great-grandchildren, Joey, Ben, Minnie, Emma, Colton, Charlotte and Callie; and several nieces and nephews.
A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday from George A. Strish Inc. Funeral Home, 105 N. Main St., Ashley, with the Rev. Rebecca Tanner officiating.
Interment will follow in Oak Lawn Cemetery, Hanover Twp.
Family and friends may call from 9 to 11 a.m. Tuesday.
