Robert J. Smith, 67, of Exeter, passed away Monday, Nov. 20, 2023, in Geisinger Wyoming Valley Medical Center, Plains Twp., surrounded by his loving family.
He was born in 1956 to the late Leo and Elizabeth Stokas Smith. Robert graduated from West Pittston High School in 1974.
He started his career in property management and went on to work on grounds and maintenance for the Pennsylvania State Police Wyoming for 34 years.
Robert enjoyed spending quality time with his beautiful wife, Gene, of 44 years. Some of his favorite times included hunting and collecting antiques with his sons, exploring new places with his daughter, Christina, and loving every moment with his grandchildren.
He was a well-loved coach for Exeter Little League.
Robert was a member the Parish of St. Barbara and Corpus Christi Parish.
In addition to his parents, Robert was preceded in death by his sister, Mary Pamela Smith.
Robert is survived by his beloved wife, Gene (Allegrucci) Smith; children, Christina (Paul) Moxen, Exeter; Robert (Kimberly) Smith, Wyoming; Matthew (Tiffany) Smith, West Wyoming; grandchildren, Parker, Matthew, Breyelle, Riley and PJ; brother, Michael (Betty Anne) Smith; and nieces and nephews.
Funeral service will be held at 10:30 a.m. Monday from Metcalfe Shaver Kopcza Funeral Home Inc., 504 Wyoming Ave., Wyoming, with a Mass of Christian Burial at 11 a.m. in St. Anthony of Padua Church of St. Barbara's Parish, 224 Memorial St., Exeter.
Relatives and friends may call from 4 to 7 p.m. Sunday at Metcalfe Shaver Kopcza Funeral Home Inc., 504 Wyoming Ave., Wyoming.
Interment will be at the convenience of the family.
Memorial donations can be made in Robert's name to Wyoming Valley Children's Association, 1133 Wyoming Ave., Forty Fort, PA 18704. This is a nonprofit organization for autism that he held close to his heart.

Dear Gene, Michael & family,
We are shocked & saddened to hear of Bob's passing. I have so many fond memories of playing baseball, football & basketball with Bob & the other guys from Exeter. We all shared a lot of good times growing up in Exeter. His passing is a terrible loss for all of you & everyone who knew him. Sending condolences & prayers for Bob & all his loved ones.

To all of Bob's family and friends , I was a friend of Bob's in school , then he met Genie , i was there , and they were inseparable, his life changed and he found what was important and made the best of it by raising such a close knit family . Bob was a good guy and a good person and will be missed.
