Robert Edward Weller

Robert Edward Weller of Shavertown passed away peacefully Friday, Feb. 2 2024, after a brief illness, 10 days shy of his 78th birthday.

Born and raised in Scranton, he was the son of the late Frank and Theresa. He had also resided in Baltimore, Nanticoke and Weatherly, before settling with his family in Shavertown.

In his early years, Robert spent time employed as a bartender and an optician before finding a long-term career in insurance. He started with Allstate and later owned and operated his own agency, alongside partner Leonard Podrasky, in Wilkes-Barre.

Outside of friends and family, his primary interests were sports and traveling (often one in the same pursuit) in support of his passion for the New York Giants, New York Yankees and Notre Dame football. His favorite places in the world were Ireland, the 1,000 Islands region of New York and Canada, and Patte's Sports Bar and Restaurant in Wilkes-Barre.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by siblings, Paul, Jerry and Judy.

He will be sadly missed by his loving wife, Nancy; son, Daniel Weller; and daughter, Kelly Clisham and husband, Paul; beloved grandchildren, Ayden and Ailey; brother, Pat Weller and wife, Valerie; nieces, nephews and his many friends.

In lieu of formal services, Robert wanted his friends, family, and associates to gather to celebrate his life by sharing food, drink, stories, laughs, and love. This celebration of his life will be held from 2 to 7 p.m. Sunday, March 24, at Patte's Sports Bar and Restaurant, 65 W. Hollenback Ave., Wilkes-Barre.
