Romayne Tattersall Obituary

Romayne C. Tattersall, 91, passed away peacefully Wednesday, July 14, 2021, at home in Wilkes-Barre, surrounded by her loving family.

Born in Wilkes-Barre on Oct. 4, 1929, she was a daughter of the late Hubert Hearst Sr. and Emily Ayers Hearst.

She grew up in the East End section of Wilkes-Barre, where she met her late husband, Richard Mickey Tattersall, who caught her throwing rocks at his goat that was in her yard eating her flowers! They were just kids and got off to a rocky start, but became best friends and then sweethearts, marrying in 1951 in Bennett Memorial Church. Later, they moved their family to Harveys Lake after purchasing the Lake Side Inn, which they operated mostly by themselves until it was destroyed by fire in 1978. They then bought and moved into a lovely property in Hunlock Creek and continued to spend much time at Harveys Lake in a home they purchased there.

Romayne worked along side of "Mickey" as a quiet partner in all of his business ventures, which were numerous, while raising six children. She was an amazingly strong woman who could multi-task like nobody's business and was "the wind beneath" our wings.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by infant son, Michael; sister, AnaMae Zim; brothers, Hubert Hearst Jr. and William "Billy" Hearst.

She will be sadly missed by her children, sons, Richard Tattersall, Warrior Run, William Tattersall and Irving Tattersall, Wilkes-Barre; daughters, Michell'e T. Boice, Harveys Lake; Sandra Dobrowolski, North Carolina; and Kathy T. Stahl, Wilkes-Barre; grandchildren and great-grandchildren; brother, Donald Hearst, Ransom; sister, Eleanor Eddy, Plymouth; and nieces and nephews.

A celebration of life will be held from 5 to 7 p.m. Sunday at Daniel J. Hughes Funeral & Cremation Service, 451 North Main St., Wilkes-Barre.

Interment will be held at the convenience of the family in Oak Lawn Cemetery, Hanover Twp.
