Salvatore J. "Sam" Conigliaro, 78, of Laflin, passed away Wednesday, Jan. 6, 2021, in the Department of Veterans Affairs Medical Center, Plains Twp., after a long and courageous battle with Parkinson's disease.
Sam is survived by his loving wife of 41 years, Ann Marie Domenick Conigliaro.
Born in Carbondale, he was the son of the late Joseph Penner and Charlotte Meddleton Conigliaro.
Sam was a parishioner of St. Maria Goretti Parish, Laflin, and was a faithful attendee of St. Ann's Novena.
He was a 1961 graduate of Forest City High School. He was a proud veteran of the United States Air Force, serving in Japan and Vietnam.
He spent his entire career in government service, initially with the Department of Army and retired from the U.S. Postal Service Data Processing Center, Wilkes-Barre.
In his childhood, he was a great fan of the New York Yankees, in particular Mickey Mantle and in later years the Philadelphia Phillies and Penn State football. Sam was a very good skier, became proficient at golf and belong to a bowling league for the comradery that it brought. He and Ann Marie loved to travel and he particularly loved Italy. Sam loved to dance, had a great sense of humor and lived life to the fullest.
Written in the book of Sam's life will be his love and devotion to Ann Marie, his daughters, grandchildren and great-grandchildren of whom he was very proud. The hallmark of his life was that his illness did not define him. He carried on and set the bar very high for those who will follow him.

To the Conigliaro Family,
Sam and I worked for the USPS for many years. We had many great times. We played a lot of Golf and always enjoyed our time on the golf course. There were many get togethers where we shared many laughs. Sam always had a joke or two to share. I know that he suffered a great deal. Our prayers and thoughts go out to the family. May he Rest In Peace.
