Sarah "Sally" Wega Vaccaro, 85, of Moosic, passed away peacefully at her home Friday, June 7, 2024.
She was born in Moosic, Jan. 4, 1939, and was the daughter of the late Kenneth and Catherine Stalbird Wega.
Sally was a member of Queen of the Apostles Parish Church, Avoca. She was a graduate of Moosic High School,
Class of 1956. She was very proud of her employment with WARM Radio, where she worked as the WARM Radio weather girl.
She took excellent care of her family; she was a wonderful cook and loved to feed her family and friends. Sally was loved by her family, neighbors and her friends, she will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Jimmy Vaccaro, in 2004.
Sally is survived by her son, Mark Vaccaro and his wife, Brenda, Scranton; and grandchildren, Julian and Destiny Vaccaro.
Sally's family would like to express their deepest gratitude to Dr. Kathryn Sallavanti, Allied Services Skilled Nursing and Rehabilitation and the VNA Hospice and Home Health of Lackawanna County for the excellent care and compassion provided to Sally.
Memorial services for Sally will be held at 5 p.m. Thursday at Kiesinger Funeral Services Inc., 255 McAlpine St., Duryea, with the Rev. Paul McDonnell of Divine Mercy Parish Church, Minooka officiating. Friends may call for visitation from 3 p.m. to service time. Private interment services will be held at St. Catherine's Cemetery, Moscow.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to VNA Hospice and Home Health of Lackawanna County, 301 Delaware Ave., Olyphant, PA 18447.
