Thomas Sedlak Obituary

Thomas B. Sedlak, 86, of Hanover Twp., passed away peacefully on Tuesday, Oct. 1, 2024, at Allied Service Hospice, Wilkes-Barre, surrounded by his loving family.

He was born in Wilkes-Barre, the son of the late John Anthony and Margaret Columbus Sedlak. He graduated in 1956 from Hanover Area High School. After high school, Thomas joined the Air Force, serving as an airman first class for four years. Prior to his retirement, he was employed for 25 years in the United States Postal Service Data Center, Wilkes-Barre. Thomas was a member of St. Robert Bellarmine Parish at St. Aloysius Church, Wilkes-Barre.

Tom was an avid sportsman excelling in many sports including baseball, basketball and bowling. A loyal and dedicated fan of the Oakland Athletics, he enjoyed visiting many stadiums to see his team with his family and friends. Especially memorable are the times he spent with his children and grandchildren at high school sporting events. Everyone looked forward to summer gathering by the family swimming pool when he would grace his presence and share many memorable stories of present and past with the family.

He was preceded in death by brothers, John Jr. and Donald F. Sedlak.

He is survived by his wife of 62 years, which they celebrated their anniversary on Sept. 8, Martha Minetola Sedlak; daughter, Donna Sedlak, Hanover Twp.; son, John Thomas Sedlak, Hanover Twp.; grandchildren, Jacquelyn Andrejko, Hanover Twp.; Stephen Williamson, Mountain Top; Brittany Frame, Hanover Twp.; 10 great-grandchildren; and sister, Joanne M. James, Temple.

A funeral service will be held at 10:30 a.m. Friday from Nat Gawlas Jordan Funeral Home, 89 Park Ave., Wilkes-Barre, with a Mass of Christian Burial to follow at 11 a.m. in St. Robert Bellarmine Parish at St Aloysius Church, 143 Division St., Wilkes-Barre. A visitation for family and friends will be held from 9 to 10:30 a.m. at the funeral home.
