William J. Fielding

William J. Fielding, 81, of Plymouth Twp., passed away Friday, March 15, 2024, in Commonwealth Wilkes-Barre General Hospital.

He was known as "Uncle Bill" to many.

Born in Kingston, he was the son of the late Frederick and Gertrude Fielding.

He was a graduate of Lake-Lehman High School and Penn State Wilkes-Barre.

He belonged to many social clubs, including the Polish American Organization, Italian American Citizens Club and the Henry Citizens Club. He was also a member of Green Street Baptist Chapel, Edwardsville. He was a long term employee for PennDOT.

A talented organist and pianist, he could be found playing alongside his sister at Sunday service. His favorite sports teams were the Penn State Nittany Lions, Philadelphia Eagles and the Phillies. He was also a railfan, and enjoyed taking train excursions.

In addition to his parents, William was preceded in death by his uncle, Edward Fielding.

Surviving are his wife of 37 years, the former Tina Sims; children, Frederick and Edward, both from Plymouth Twp.; sister, Joan and her husband, Dale Titus; nephew, Michael Sims, who was treated like a son; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Friday at Harold C. Snowdon Funeral Home Inc., 140 N. Main St., Shavertown. The Rev. Cali Magallames will serve as officiant. Friends may call from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday.

Memorial donations may be made to the American Heart Association or American Cancer Society.
