William Morris, 86, of Old Forge, passed away Wednesday, July 28, 2021, in Geisinger Community Medical Center, Scranton. He was born in Wyoming on April 28, 1935, and was the son of the late John and Mary Schneck Morris.
He was a member of Prince of Peace Parish, Old Forge. Billy was a graduate of St. John's High School, Pittston, and also a graduate of the University Of Scranton, where he was employed after his retirement from the Tobyhanna Army Depot. Bill was employed as an operations director.
He was also a lifelong member of the Fox Hill Country Club, Exeter, and the Pittston Knights Of Columbus.
Billy was a man of great character and intelligence and had a heart of gold. He was fiercely devoted to his wife, Ann, and together they created a home and a life of great elegance, beauty and fulfillment. Near the end of her life, Billy cared for Ann with an unprecedented degree of tenderness, and all were inspired by the depth of their connection.
Billy was an avid reader and had a deep interest in many different topics which made him an excellent conversationalist who truly engaged those he met. He was cherished by his sister, nieces, nephews and great-nieces and nephews, whose lives have been made richer in having known him. Billy will be deeply missed by his family and by his close friends who treasured his loyalty, caring nature and companionship.
In addition to parents, he is preceded in death by his wife of 57 years, Ann F. DeSanto Morris, who died Dec. 29, 2017, and his brother John Morris.
He is survived by his sister, Imelda Kormos, of Philadelphia; niece, Mary Kay Giorno; and nephews, John Morris, Harold J., Michael and Dr. William Kormos, and Gary and Ronald DeSanto. Also surviving are many great-nieces, great-nephews and wonderful friends.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday, Aug. 4 in Prince of Peace Parish Church, 123 W. Grace St., Old Forge, with the Rev. August Ricciardi officiating. Friends may call for visitation from 9 a.m. until time of Mass. Interment will be held in the Cathedral Cemetery, Scranton. The American Veterans of Greater Pittston honor guard will provide military honors.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude's Children Hospital, 262 Danny Thomas Place, Memphis, TN.
