Anthony Franceschelli Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by O'Neill Funeral Home, Inc. on Mar. 18, 2026.
Anthony John Franceschelli of Oak Point in Middleboro died peacefully on March 15, 2026, following an extended illness. He was 84.

Tony was born on June 12, 1941, in Scranton, Pennsylvania, son of the late Mariano and Erminia (Zaccardi) Franceschelli. He was raised in Dunmore, Pennsylvania, and attended the University of Scranton and the University of Detroit, where he earned his Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering.

Tony relocated to Massachusetts to pursue his career at General Electric Aircraft Engines, remaining with the company for more than 40 years. While at GE, he attended Northeastern University in the evenings, where he earned his Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering.

Tony was the co-winner of General Electric's Donald F. Truly Award in 1980. This honor was awarded to an engineer whose leadership, creativity, or enhancement of product preeminence resulted in the year's most significant contributions to engineering excellence. During his tenure at General Electric, he was awarded multiple patents.

He was the devoted husband to Barbara (Spinozza) Franceschelli for more than 63 years; the cherished father of Anthony, Jr. and his wife Jan, Mark and his wife Jennifer, and Michael and his wife Christine; and the adored grandfather of Jessica, Jack, Ann Marie, Shaylan, Haley, and Olivia. He was the loving brother of the late William and Philomena Franceschelli. He loved his family deeply, and that love was returned.

Tony called the North Shore of Massachusetts home for over forty years, residing in Beverly, where he and his wife raised their children. Following his retirement, he and Barbara relocated to Oak Point in Middleboro, where they have resided for the past 11 years. He enjoyed golf, cards, bocce, cribbage, chess, and bowling. Tony was a man of integrity, quiet faith, and innate humility.

Visiting hours on March 26, 2026 from 4 until 7 p.m. in the O'Neill Funeral Home, 59 Peirce Street (corner of School Street) Middleboro.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on March 27, 2026 at 10 a.m. in Sacred Heart Church of Saint Isidore Parish, 340 Center Street, Middleboro.
