Patrick John Ferguson, 36, our beloved father, husband, son, and friend, died unexpectedly in his sleep on March 12, 2026.
Patrick's life, though far too short, left a lasting impact on everyone who knew him. He is lovingly remembered by his wife and son, Mary and Theodore "Teddy"; his father Alan; his in-laws, Anne, Paul, Joyce and Joanne Armstrong; his many aunts, uncles, cousins and friends. Patrick is now reunited with his mother, the late Anne E. Ferguson, with whom he shared an especially close and loving bond. Anne's recent passing was a profound loss in Patrick's life. Their relationship was one of deep love, constant support, and mutual pride. The connection they shared was truly special and will always remain part of his story.
Becoming a father to Teddy eighteen months ago was Patrick's great joy in life. From the moment his son was born, Patrick embraced fatherhood wholeheartedly, filling their days with laughter, patience, and unconditional love. Being "Dad" was the role he cherished most. Patrick's love for his wife, Mary, was deep and unwavering. Together they built a life rich with adventure, traveling to Italy, skiing in the mountains, and enjoying time in Bermuda. Wherever life took them, they were happiest discovering it together.
Anthony Beach was one of Patrick's favorite places. It was there that he spent quality time with his parents. Patrick learned his love of the water from his father, Alan. He cherished the memories he shared with his parents at Anthony Beach and sailing on their boat, "Solitude". He often spoke about wanting to create similar memories with Teddy so he could experience the same joy.
Patrick spent his time between his much-loved city home in
Charlestown, MA and his coastal escape in
Padanaram, MA, where he was raised. He was a graduate of the University of Massachusetts, Dartmouth and had a fulfilling career in tech sales. Patrick loved sports and rarely missed an opportunity to be part of the game. He refereed intramural sports weekly, played high school football, and was an especially talented tennis player. Even when he wasn't on the field or court, he stayed close to the action, often listening to a little too much Boston sports talk radio and passionately following his favorite teams.
A life-long member of the New Bedford Yacht Club, Patrick spent his summers cruising and sailing on Buzzards Bay to Cuttyhunk Island. Patrick enjoyed his Wednesday evenings as a member of the NBYC Moody Blue sailing crew whose slogan was "Be A.L.E.R.T.: A Low Expectancy Racing Team". Patrick and the Moody Blue may not have won many (or any) races, but they learned the value of teamwork, persistence, and above all, had fun.
Patrick loved his family and friends. That love was returned. Patrick often owned the room. He was warm, energetic, and naturally funny, drawing people in with an ease that made everyone feel welcome. His playful spirit kept friends laughing and entertained, yet beneath that lighthearted charm was a deeply kind and gentle soul who genuinely cared for others. He had a way of making people feel seen and valued, and his presence brought a special warmth to every gathering.
