Blanche Hiltibrand Obituary

VALLEY FALLS - Blanche Sunshine Hiltibrand, 101, of Valley Falls, formerly of Topeka, died Saturday, Sept. 4, 2004, at Village Villa Care Center in Nortonville. She was born May 10, 1903, in Valley Falls, to Charles and Eva may Connell Kyle. Mrs. Hiltibrand was a culinary employee at the former Santa Fe Hospital in Topeka. She worked at a shipyard in Portland, Ore., during World War II. She moved to Topeka in 1945 and later to Valley Falls in 1993. She had been a member of the former First Baptist Church in Valley Falls. She married Ora Russell Hiltibrand on Nov. 23, 1923, in Topeka. He died Sept. 30, 1950. Survivors include a brother, Paul Kyle, Oskaloosa; a nephew, Darel Kyle, Shawnee; a niece, Luava Ullrich, Neshkoro, Wis.; and several grandnephews and grandnieces. She was preceded in death by two sons, Jack Keith Hiltibrand, on Oct. 24, 1993, and Robert Gerald Hiltibrand on Jan. 9, 1951; and two daughters in infancy, Betty Hiltibrand and Phyllis Hiltibrand. Servi ces will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Mercer Funeral Home in Valley Falls. Burial will be in Valley Falls Cemetery. Visitation will be from 10 a.m. until service time. Memorial contributions may be made to Valley Falls Cemetery Association and sent in care of the funeral home, P.O. Box 6, Valley Falls, 66088.
