Claude Maxwell Obituary

Claude Clinton Maxwell, passed away peacefully at home April 18, 2010 at the age of 85. He was born July 28, 1924 to Claude and Della Maxwell in Aurora, Missouri. He graduated from Aurora High School and SMS College in Springfield, MO and was a Charter Member of Sigma Pi Fraternity while in college. He later attended Emporia State University. He was employed by the US Government as Auditor at Ft. Leonard Wood, MO and served in the US Navy as Signalman First Class from April 20, 1943 to February 24, 1946. Later he taught industrial arts at Paxico High School and Alma High School and a self-employed contractor. Known as CC to his friends, he was a member of the Moose Lodge, a life member of the Disabled Vets and a life member of the American Legion Post 400. He is survived by his wife Lorene Matney Kampschroeder, married October 30, 1969; son Edwin Draper Maxwell of Fenton, MO; a stepdaughter, Sandra Kampschroeder, Topeka; and a host of nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, April 22, 2010, Penwell-Gabel Parker-Price Funeral Home. Visitation will precede services at 10:30 a.m. Thursday. Claude will lie in state after 2:00 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home. Cremation will follow the services. Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice Care of Kansas, 2900 Oakley Avenue, Topeka, KS 66614; American Legion Post 400, Building Fund, 3029 NW Hwy 24, Topeka, KS 66618; or Helping Hands Humane Society, 2625 NW Rochester Road, Topeka, KS 66617. God Bless you Lorene! I know what you went through and want you to know that you deserve a medal of honor! I wasn't aware that Uncle C.C. was so ill. Please accept my deepest sympathy! Uncle C.C. was my Hero! I aspired to be all that I could be in the U.S. Navy because of him and his heroic efforts that can never be repaid. Mother, Betty Jean, used to tell me stories about him being in the U.S. Navy and all that he went through. Please take care of yourself NOW Lorene! I know that you have to be totally wore out physically and mentally. Know that Uncle C.C. is in Heaven and no longer suffering. If you need anything Lorene just call me, Anytime! Junior

Mother's and my visit to your home fondly. All the fresh garden foods
that you served! Yum. Know that I treasure all of C's hand-crafted wooden pieces. I proudly tell people that my uncle made them. This brings warm wishes to you always.

I am sorry to hear of Great Uncle Clinton. I am Betty's Granddaughter Elisha, Sharon Kristek's Daughter. With Grandma passing and then Uncle Clinton just days after....it makes me wonder what kind of reunion they are having in Heaven with our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ. You are all in my thoughts and prayers.

Lorene - Sorry about "C". He was one great guy and such a dear frien to Loren. Loren and him had some good laughs. He loved his jokes and I knew I would always have a good laugh if he called us. I know he will be missed but I know Loren and "C" are up there living it up. God be with you in this time of sorow.
