Clifford Worthing Obituary
On April 13, 1951, C.R. was born in Westmoreland, KS to Kenneth Ray and Fern Louise (Julien) Worthing. C.R. attended Wamego schools, graduating from Wamego High School in 1969. In 1978, he took over the local Amoco until moving to the current location of C.R.'s Tire and Muffler in 1985. He owned and operated it until retiring in 2018. On January 1, 1981, he married Cynthia "Cindy" Ann Eberhart.
C.R. was a member of the Wamego United Methodist Church, Wamego Country Club, Kansas Tire Dealers and Oil Marketers Association, and the Wamego Chamber of Commerce which he was awarded the "Citizen of the Year" in 1996.. He loved cars and could work on anything with 4 wheels. He enjoyed taking road trips both near and far. Driving through his neighborhood, you always noticed how well kept and manicured his lawn was. C.R. enjoyed his work and made many friendships through his work and truly caring for people.
He is survived by his wife, Cindy Eberhart Worthing of Wamego; his mother, Fern Worthing of Wamego; a daughter, Tambria Pfannenstiel (Mark) of Park City, KS; his sister, Linda Worthing Cottrell of Wamego; a brother, Gordon Worthing (Kim) of Lyndon, KS; 2 grandchildren, Gavin and Chloe McGee; 2 step-grandchildren, Trent and Taylor Pfannenstiel; 4 nieces and 2 nephews. His father preceded him in death in 2003.
A private chapel service will be held for the family on Wednesday, April 8, 2020 at Stewart Funeral Home of Wamego, burial will follow in Belvue Cemetery. Friends may call at the Stewart Funeral Home on Tuesday, April 7th from 1 p.m. until 5 p.m. A Celebration of C.R.'s Life will be held at a later date TBA. In lieu of flowers the family has suggested a memorial to C.R. and Cindy Worthing Vocational Scholarship Fund- c/o Wamego Community Foundation and may be left in care of Stewart Funeral Home, PO Box 48, Wamego, KS 66547. Condolences may also be left at: www.stewartfuneralhomes.com.

Dear Cindy, Tambria and the family, my heart goes out to all of you. CR was a very special person and touched so many lives. When I lived down the street from the shop in the late 80's and early 90's, if I had a problem, CR was there to help. Flat tire, car won't start due to cold, whatever it was, in the shops purview or not, CR would say leave me the keys and I will fix it. And I would walk on to work at the Smoke Signal. Sometime during the day, here would come someone from the shop,(on a cold day, with my car), or with just my keys to say, its fixed. Now, of course, being the business man he was, I did get charged, but never more than was expected for just the car service. The rest was all on CR...He was so kind; and man, being a single women with little mechanical experience, did I ever appreciate. During my time in Wamego I also got to know Cindy, making up the second half of a very kind and very sweet couple. I am so sorry CR had to leave you way too soon. He will be remembered fondly. Well what can I say, I knew the man for 45 years or so and never knew his name was Clifford. To Cindy and the rest of the family please know how much we cared for him and that you are all in our thoughts and prayers. He wasn't just a good man but a good human being and that can't be said for everyone. With his passing there is a hole left in the community but, one has been filled in heaven. It won't be the same around here on the 4th of July, ever.

C.R. and Cindi represented the best of small town business: friendly, helpful, trustworthy, and fun. Who else would drive our car back home after a repair, or pick up mom, grandma, and two kids in a disabled car, out of town, in sub-freezing weather? Scores of others could share similar stories. Worthing Family-- I so fondly remember sharing every New Years Day with your family for many years as our mothers shared a dorm room at KSU many years ago. Silly memory but I remember that large toy caterpillar that C.R. had that I loved to play with. So sad to hear of this news, he will be missed.

What a charming, fun loving cousin. Knew him all our lives. I remember when I was in a bookstore. Had the definite feeling someone was stalking me. Walked all over that store and this person just kept following me. I hadnt seen CR in a few years, so wasnt expecting him to be there. When he jumped at me. I almost screamed.
