Dorothy Kramer Obituary

MELVERN- Dorothy Evangeline Kramer, 85, passed away on Wednesday, September 17, 2008 at the Allen County Memorial Hospital in Iola. She was born on January 27, 1923, the daughter of Henry and Gladys Linsey Evans. Dorothy graduated from Reading High School in 1941. She worked on B-25 Bombers in Kansas City during World War II, was a Food Services Manager at Forbes Air Force Base, worked at National Reserve Life Insurance Co., in Topeka and operated Kramer Insurance Agency in Melvern with her husband from 1968 to 1987. She was a member of the Mt. Pleasant Community Church near Lyndon. On July 4, 1941, Dorothy was united in marriage to Cecil D. Kramer in Barclay. She was preceded in death by Cecil on August 20, 2004, her sister, Lucille Jennings and an infant granddaughter, Brianna Kramer. Dorothy is survived by her four daughters, Donna and Delbert Scott of Lowry City, MO., Deanna and Ken Willard of Hutchinson, Janice and Dave Gordeuk of Hobe Sound, FL., and Judy and Gene McIntosh of Iola, two sons, Jim Kramer of Phoenix, AZ., and Jerry and Sharon Kramer of Melvern, a brother, Amos Evans of Tecumseh, 22 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren. Funeral services for Dorothy will be at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, September 20, 2008 at the Mt. Pleasant Community Church. She will lie in state from 2:00-8:00 p.m. on Friday at the Feltner Funeral Chapel in Lyndon where the family will receive friends from 6:00-8:00 p.m. Burial will be in the Melvern Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the Mt. Pleasant Community Church and sent in care of the funeral home.
