Glen Hurst

Glen Hurst Glen Lee Hurst, 85, Topeka, passed away Sunday, November 6, 2016, at Lexington Park Assisted Living. Glen was born August 13, 1931, in Stafford KS, the son of Leo and Emma Cleghorn Hurst. He graduated from Sylvia High School in 1950. Glen proudly served in U.S. Army during the Korean War. On October 28, 1955, Glen married the love of his life, Helen Marie Moeckel in Sylvia KS. Glen worked for Kansas Wildlife and Parks for 38 years as a Game Warden and as the North East Kansas Regional Supervisor. He retired in August of 1993. Glen was a member of the Kansas Peace Officers Association and a member of the Methodist Church. He enjoyed spending time outdoors, fishing and golfing; but what he enjoyed most in life was spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Glen was dearly loved and will be deeply missed. Grateful to have shared his life are his wife of 61 years, Helen Hurst, of the home; daughters, Debbie Brady (Craig), Cathy Wilson (Mark) and Glenda Miller (Thomas), all of Topeka; grandchildren, Amber Sester (Adam), Chase Brady (Danielle), Robert Wilson (Jessica), Jackie Jones (Trey), Cory Wilson, Brandon Miller (Alyssa), Ryan Miller and Wray Wickizer; three great-grandchildren; sister, Margie Herrman, Hutchinson; brother, Keith Hurst (Shirley), Sylvia KS; sister-in-law, Marilyn Hurst, as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Glen was preceded in death by his parents and brother, Jim Hurst. A Celebration of Glen s Life will be held at 12:30 p.m. on Thursday at Kevin Brennan Family Funeral Home, 2801 SW Urish Road, Topeka KS 66614. Inurnment will follow at Mount Hope Cemetery.
