James Bervert Obituary

James W. "Jim" Bervert, 76, of Topeka, passed away Thursday, September 15, 2005 at Midland Hospice House. He was born September 20, 1928, in Topeka, the son of Joseph and Elizabeth (Swartz) Bervert. He was a Paratrooper in the 11th Airborne Division of the United States Army after WW II. James was employed for Union Pacific Railroad in Topeka for 35 years. He married Doris Maxine Parker on July 19, 1952 in Topeka. She survives. Other survivors include three daughters, Debbie Johnson, and her husband, Robert, of Romeoville, IL, twin daughters, Karen Bervert of Woodland Hills, CA, and Karla Bervert of Gardnerville, NV; two sisters, Dorothy Bervert of Topeka, and Irene Young of El Paso, TX; a brother, Andy Bervert of Topeka; two grandchildren, Eric Brinkman of Lawrence, KS and Jennifer Hilleary of Romeoville, IL. Mass of Christian Burial will be 10 a.m., Monday, September 19, 2005 at Most Pure Heart of Mary Catholic Church. Mr. Bervert will lie in state from 1-9 p.m., Sunday at the Davidson Funeral Home where the family will receive friends from 4-5:30 p.m. Cremation will follow the Mass. Memorial contributions may be made to Midland Hospice, 200 SW Frazier Circle, Topeka, KS 66606.
