James Chavez Obituary
Born January 19, 1956, in Topeka KS, the son of Leo and Helen (Llamas) Chavez.
He married Vicky Schloetzer. They later divorced.
Jimmy enjoyed coaching with the "Topeka Chiefs" youth football as well as hunting, fishing, dancing and his "Wild Turkey 101."
Survivors include three brothers: Michael (Jeanne), Arthur and Robert Chavez; three sisters, Cynthia (Todd) Gouge, Victoria (Gary) Grimes, Topeka, and Janet Chavez-Treadwell, St. George, KS; six nieces, six nephews, five great-nieces, five great-nephews and a host of good friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
A celebration of his life will be Saturday, November 4, 2017, 3:00 to 7:00 p.m. at Gayle's, 600 NW Paramore, Topeka.

What a great picture of Jimmy..this is the way that I will always remember him.. I have some good memories of dancing with Jimmy at the Den back in the day..He was a wonderful person! Rest easy.

Jimmy was there for a lot of people. I am sure he helped in making a lot of kids around Topeka into productive adults. The Class of 74 at THS will miss him.

I've had the pleasure to know Jim for many years. He called me his little brother. He was always there to help anyone in need. I don't know how many times he checked in on my father and wound up drinking coffee with him. Jim you will be sorely missed by me and our family.
