James Thompson Obituary

James G. Jim Thompson OSAGE CITY- James G. Thompson, 93, died Saturday, December 3, 2016 at his home in Osage City. James G. Thompson was born on March 25, 1923 in Barclay, Kansas, the son of Louis C. and Gladys (Walker) Thompson. He graduated from Osage City High School in 1941. After high school, Jim started farming and continued throughout his life and dearly loved. He was joined in marriage to Lenore F. Kaniper on February 22, 1947 in Lyon County, Kansas. Jim was a member of the Osage City United Methodist Church, Osage City Lions Club member for 65 years and past member of the American Soybean Association, National Corn Growers Association, National Grain Sorghum Association and Osage City Country Club. He will be forever remember by his wife, Lenore of the home; two sons, Keith D. (Barb) Thompson and Douglas J. (Dee) Thompson, both of Osage City; a sister, Betty Pressgrove and a brother, Howard O. Thompson, both of Osage City; three grandchildren, Ben (Kara) Thompson, Briana (James) Palacio, both of Osage City; Erinn (Justin) Ernst of Springfield, Oregon; four step-grandchildren; four great grandchildren and nine step-great-grandchildren. Jim was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, Tom and Clint Thompson. Funeral service will be held at 10:30 am, Tuesday, December 6, 2016 at the Osage City United Methodist Church. Family will be receiving friends on Monday at the church from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m.. Burial to follow service at the Osage City Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Diabetes Association or American Heart Association or the Osage City United Methodist Church and sent in care of VanArsdale Funeral Chapel, 107 N. Sixth, Osage City, KS 66523. Condolences maybe express at vanarsdalefs.com.
