Jerry Craig Obituary

Holton Jerry Dean Craig, 54, of Holton, died Thursday, July 20, 2006 at the Nemaha County Community Hospital in Seneca after an apparent heart attack at his work. Jerry was born March 23, 1952, at Holton, the son of Bill and Sylvia Cody Craig. He graduated from Holton High School in 1970. He served in the Kansas National Guard Unit at Holton. He attended meat cutting school and was a meat cutter for many years. He currently was working as an extruder operator for C.J. Foods, Inc. in Bern. Jerry was a member of St. Dominic Catholic Church in Holton. He loved playing golf, fishing with his children and gardening. He also loved to spend time with his family and friends playing cards. He was an avid watcher of "The Daily Show with Jon Stewart" with his children, Carly & Christian. Jerry was a master of chess and Trivial Pursuit. He enjoyed watching his sons' football games and attending his daughter's school activities. He married Terry "Bert" Liebert on December 3, 1982, at Holton. She survives. Jerry was preceded in death by a sister, Janice Craig Jameson, who died in 1973. Other survivors include two sons, Darren James Craig and his wife Dani, and their children, Alexandria Marie, Cody James, Samuel Dean and Mikia Fox, all of Collbran, Colorado, and Christian Dean Craig, of the home; one daughter, Carly Michelle Craig, of the home; two brothers, Jim Craig and Jeff Craig and Nancy, all of Holton. Cremation with a private family service is planned. A celebration of life gathering will be held from 3:00 to 8:00 p.m. Monday in the back yard of the Craig home at 203 Kansas Avenue in Holton. Memorials are suggested to the Children's Education Fund and may be sent in care of Chapel Oaks Funeral Home or Denison State Bank. Dear family of Jerry Craig: You will not know who I am; but Jerry's aunt was my father's sister, Frank M. Houser who died in 1980 at Fowler, Ks.My mother, Gladys Tedlock Houser, died at Fowler in 1996. I am the oldest of three children, Margaret Houser Huelskamp and now live in Sun City West, Az. His parents visited us when I was little and I do remember his parents, Bill and Sylvia. I along with my sister, Mary Reese (of Fowler, and my brother, Lawrence Houser(of Pueblo) and my sister, Carol Young of Manhattan, Ks. extend our heartfelt prayers for all of you.God Bless you in your sorrow.
