Juanita Kipers Obituary

TECUMSEH - Juanita Jane Kipers, 80, Tecumseh, died Monday, Aug. 16, 2004, at Midland Hospice House in Topeka. She was born Nov. 30, 1923, in Wichita, the daughter of Byron R. and Lelia Mayhugh Baker. She graduated from Augusta High School. She resided in Wichita from 1945 until moving to Tecumseh in 1983. She worked as a meter maid for the City of Wichita from 1960 to 1966. She was formerly a member of the United Methodist Church in Augusta. Juanita married Virgil M. Kipers on June 7, 1942, in Augusta. He survives. Other survivors include her children, Virgil M. Kipers Jr., Littleton, Colo., Janet K. Colbert, Ellicott City, Md., Gary L. Kipers, Pierce City, Mo., and Karla K. Waggoner, Topeka; sisters, Laura Lee Langley, Exeter, Calif., and Kathy Nutter, Escondido, Calif.; brothers, Edward Baker, Rainbow, Calif., and Richard Baker, Escondido, Calif.; 10 grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Thur sday at Penwell-Gabel Southeast Chapel. Graveside services will be at 3 p.m. in Elmwood Cemetery in Augusta. Mrs. Kipers will lie in state after noon Wednesday at the funeral home, where the family will receive friends from 7 to 8 p.m. Memorial contributions may be made to Midland Hospice House, 120 S.W. Frazier Circle, Topeka 66606, or to Heart of America Hospice, 3715 S.W. 29th St., Topeka, 66614.
