Lester Lee Weir

Lester (Lee) Weir, Topeka, passed away May 12, 2010, at 89 years of age. Lee was born October 10, 1920, the son of Lester Lee and Hallie Weir of Pleasant Hill, Illinois. He graduated from Pleasant Hill High School and Illinois College in Jacksonville, Illinois. Lee married Mayme D. Merillat of Topeka on June 24, 1942. A veteran of World War II, he served with the Army in the 703rd Petroleum Distribution Unit in Africa and Italy. He returned to Topeka in 1945, and worked as auditor and Secretary Treasurer at Meade Insurance Co. for 35 years. Mr. Weir is survived by his wife, Mayme; sons Mike, of Springfield, Illinois and Scott and daughter-in-law, Katy, of Topeka; two grandsons, Evan (and his wife, Katie) of Madison, Wisconsin and Cameron (and his fiance, Jessy) of Minneapolis, Minnesota. He was preceded in death by three brothers and one sister, and is survived by a brother, Robert, and sister, Carolyn Smith. The family will receive friends at Westminster Presbyterian Church from 7:00 to 8:00 p.m. on Friday, May 14. Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m. Saturday, May 15 at Westminster Presbyterian Church in Topeka. Burial will follow in Mt. Hope Cemetery.
