Our deepest sympathy to the family of Ms. Nelson, our counselor at Southwest High School. Ms. Nelson was an understanding and compassionate woman that helped our family during our tough times. She took the time to teach us life lessons that we have shared with many others. Because of her encouraging words our family was able to cope with alcoholism, abuse, mental illness and divorce. Ms. Nelson would be happy to know the four Ziegler kids have been very successful in life. Mary is a CPA, Rose is a nurse, John is an electrician and Jim is a master bricklayer. We beat the odds because Ms. Nelson taught us how to be a success. May God bless your family and comfort you in the days ahead.

My life has been blessed to have had such a wonderful Aunt as Jane. As my moms sister she helped me when council was needed and shared her wisdom when times were difficult. Her wonder sense of humor and sharp wit made the world a brighter place. Her memory will last a life time.

As a classmate on Mary Jane at Ward High I last visited with her at one of our reunions a few years ago and she was still the beautiful woman of our high school days. I'm very sorry for your loss.

I remember visiting your grandparents, Al and Mary Knipper years ago when they lived in KCK. They were old then and I was still in the seminary. Mary, of course, was my dad's sister but they were a beautiful couple. Sorry we cousins haven't kept in touch. You are all in my prayers during this time of sorrow and loss. Father Bob Hasenkamp

We were saddended to hear of your mother's passing, 52nd street has lost a "dear neighbor". She always had something to say as I passed on my daily walk past her house. When she passed my house I knew she was on her way to the post office on Main Street. Last summer on an especially hot day we invited her in for a cool drink. She spoke so proudly of her children and grandchildren and her travels. Her mind was as sharp as a tack. She was so blessed that her children let her remain in her home. That meant so much to her. She loved her independence.

Rick and the entire Nelson family have been in my thoughts and prayers.
Your mom was a special woman. She had reminded me of my mother in so many ways....both legends in the old neighborhood and a mom to many.
