Max Altman Obituary

SALINA -- Max D. Altman, age 79, passed away on December 3, 2005 at Salina. Max was born on March 10, 1926 at Ada, Kansas. He was the owner and operator of Altman Construction and Supply Inc., of Salina, for 20 years. He was a WWII Navy veteran serving in the Battle of Okinawa and was an avid hunter and fisherman. He was preceded in death by his spouse, Grace Werries Altman, who passed away in 2001, and his parents, Arthur Gilbert Altman and the former Amanda Lauraine Lundstrom, his son-in-law Sam, in 1998, and four brothers and one sister. Survivors include two daughters Linda Mynhier, of Salina, and Joleen (and spouse Dave) Whitfill, of Topeka; a sister, Ada Harris, of Minneapolis, Kan.; five grandchldren, Lori Adam, Jennifer Schafer, Sara Herman, Brett Whitfill, Jessica Whitfill; three great-grandchildren, Carli Adam, Kyla Adam and Madison Schafer. Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. on Tuesday, Dec. 6 at Immanual Lutheran Church, Salina, Rev. Kent Happel, officiating, followed by burial in the Franklin Cemetery, Tescott, Kan., with military honors. Memorials are suggested to the Tescott American Legion Post #255, the Tammy Walker Cancer Center, Salina, or Hospice of Salina. Visitation at the Ryan Mortuary, Salina, on Monday, from noon until 8 p.m.; the family will receive friends from 6 until 8 p.m. For information and condolences, go to www.ryanmortuary.com.
