Peter Lindner Obituary

Peter Frazier Lindner, 52, died suddenly late Monday, Sept. 13, at St. Francis Hospital. He was born in Garden City, KS on Nov. 2, 1957, and moved with his family to Topeka on January 21, 1968. He attended Randolph Elementary, Boswell Junior High, Topeka High School and received his graduate education at Washburn and the University of Kansas with a major in advertising. He was the son of Nel Lindner Richmond and Robert Richmond, Topeka and the late Maurice Lindner of Garden City. He was a well-known realtor for 23 years and was deeply involved in the development of the Cherry Creek North in Topeka. He was proud of his profession, and he always went the extra mile for his clients. His father called him a Renaissance Man because he was accomplished on many fronts with a wide interest in the broad spectrum of the arts. When a question-any questioncame up everyone said, Ask Peter. Peter and Dawn Rozann Markham were married on May 11, 1979. She survives as do their four sons, Samuel (Lauren K. Stone) of Philadelphia, Theodore (Heather Cairns), Thomas (Jordie Broadhead) and Benjamin of Topeka; his mother and father; sister, Catherine (Ken) Wasinger and son Joseph, Topeka; brothers, John Lindner, Garden City, John Richmond (Barb) and son Eric, Bartonville, IL, and Douglas Richmond , Chicago. Also surviving are his mother-in-law, Verna Markham, Topeka and several brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, nieces and nephews. Private burial will be Thursday, Sept. 16 at Rochester Cemetery. A memorial service is scheduled for 11:00 am Friday, Sept 17th at Topeka Bible Church. In lieu of flowers the family suggests contributions to the Special Lindner Fund, c/o Davidson Funeral Home, 1035 N. Kansas Ave., Topeka, KS 66608. Dawn- Wow. I am in shock. I just found out about Peter's passing. I am so sorry for your loss and sorry I didn't know sooner. My heart goes out to you and your family. What a great human being! Peter was such a fine individual with such a great biting wit and wonderful spirit. No doubt he touched a lot of lives and made a real difference when he did. He will be truly missed but always fondly remembered.

Cheers, Peter..

My love to you and your family,

I want to thank whomever kept the Guest Book online. What a wonderful surprise to me. God Bless YOU! I am doing better and so are my sons. Of course, we have sad days, but we are moving forward as Petey would want us to do that and not be sad. He was a jovial guy and wouldn't want us to stay in a place of mourning. Thank you for coming to read the Guest Book. Dawn Markham Lindner

Dear Dawn, Oh Dawn, I love you and am thinking of you and your family now at this sad time. How well I remember you telling me about your first date with Peter! We were kids then, and so much has changed, but your love for Peter and his love for you always stayed strong. May God bless you and keep you, Dawn, and may angels escort Peter to heaven. Dear Friends and Family and if you were our clients, you know you were like family to me. I know that Peter would have never, NEVER, left me in a lurch. He was a wonderful husband and father. He was an exceptional REALTOR. I am overwhelmed by the love shown toward me and my family from the Real Estate community in town, our family, clients, neighbors, lawyers, doctors, pastors and people I don't yet know that knew Peter. He touched so many lives. I am honored to be Mrs. Peter F. Lindner. Thank you, Peter for our 4 marvelous sons and their significant others, the almost 32 years of marriage and the 5 years we dated before we got married. Our first date was the prom at Topeka High, May 11, 1974 and we were married, May 11, 1979. He swept me off my feet at the prom. I never looked back. He was so funny and had so much charisma. He would bring me flowers all of the time. I told him I didn't need them. He would assure the boys not to listen to a woman when they say they don't want flowers. Anyway, thank you all for being a part of Peter's life and thank you that you will continue to be in my life. God Bless You all. Jesus is Lord!

Dearest Dawn & Family,

I was so saddened to hear the news of Peter. The last time we spoke with him was around Christmas. We were going through such a hard time as a family and he reached out to us. He was such a great man. He truly showed his love by "doing" not with just mere words. He will be truly missed, and we are praying for the entire family. We love you, Dawn & family. God bless you and may you feel His omnipresence around you and His healing touch within your hearts. The Brooke Family, O'ahu, Hawaii

Wow, where do I start. Peter F. Lindner was one of a kind and I say that in a good way. When I left Valley in April to take care of my mom Peter told me he would miss me but he understood my decision. I looked forward to everyday to have him come into the office because I knew that sometime he would entertain us. His wearing of the green mail basket for a hat will be something I will never forget. He was a man of many talents and his voice characters always gave me a good laugh. I know you all will have many emotions you will experience but at least the good memories will carry us all through. He touched many hearts and our lives right now are very sad without him in it. Much love to you all.
You will always be in my thoughts and prayers.
Love always, Linda Uhl

Dawn,
I was sadened to hear about Peter today. I've not seen the two of you for some time but are reminded of you both when we're back in town visiting the parents. Many times we've taken the kids (and grand-kid) through the Boswell "Hood" and would point out his house and shared a story from back in the day (maybe not all of them)! All those that crossed his path will miss his smile, wit, and humor ! Our thought's and prayers are with you and the boy's at this time.

Dear Lindner family,

We are so very sad to hear of Peter's passing. He was such a dear man. Our first memories of him were when he invited us to bring our boys into cub scouts at Randolph Elementary. We were always so impressed with how patient and kind he was with all the boys at scouts no matter how big or wild the group was.

We have watched our children grow up together and become adults but it was way too soon to lose such a special man as Peter. Your whole family will be in our thoughts and prayers.

Try to find comfort in the fact that so many people thought so highly of Peter. He left his mark on this world and touched many lives.

My family was shocked to hear the sad news. We were working with Peter to sell our home on Cherry Creek, and purchase another home on Cherry Creek. When we decided to make this move, the first person we thought of was Peter. He helped us build our first home on Cherry Creek 11 years ago. If the job could be done, he could do it. We will close on the home next Friday, but it will be bitter-sweet. He will not be there to share in our joy. Peter was more than our Realtor, he was our friend. He was very special, and one of a kind. He will be missed.

It's hard to believe that Peter is gone from us. My fondest memory of him is when he was the Scoutmaster for Boy Scout Troop 10. He gave a presentation at Randolph Elementary, that was fun and informative.

He had large cue cards that kept falling down and he knew how to laugh at himself. He reminded me of Drew Carey. He inspired many boys and their families to participate in Scouts which resulted in life-long memories of great experiences. Thank you, Peter.

I'm wishing for peace for the family who will truly miss him, tremendously.
