Ruth Crowell Obituary

Ruth I. Crowell, 86, a lifelong resident of Topeka, died Saturday, June 21, 2003, at McCrite Plaza. She was born Nov. 8, 1916, inTopeka, the daughter of Frank and Anna Blair Drayer. She attended Topeka High School. She managed a senior apartment complex in Perry, and attended West Side Christian Church. She married Norman L. "Roy" Crowell on June 28, 1947, in Kansas City, Mo. He preceded her in death on May 26, 1967. Also, a son, Rodney Lee Crowell, preceded her in death on Dec. 22, 1973. Surviving are a daughter, Shirley Stonebraker, Topeka; a son, Jack L. Crowell, Topeka; a sister, Mary Carlisle, Oklahoma City; six grandchildren: Brandon Crowell, Shelby Leiker, Lindsey Jellison, Vicky Ribordy, Elmer Barncord III, and Lori Hartpence; six great grandchildren, and one great-great grandson. Services will be at 1 p.m. Tuesday at Penwell-Gabel Mid Town Chapel. Burial will be in Prairie Home Cemetery. Mrs. Crowell will lie in state after 1 p.m. today at the funeral home, where the family will receive friends from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. Memorial contributions may be made to the Topeka Chapter of the Alzheimers Association, P.O.
