Veryl G. Reichart

VALLEY FALLS- Veryl Gwendolyn Reichart, 97, Valley Falls, died Thursday, January 18, 2007, at the home of her daughter, Lois Beames, in Topeka. Mrs. Reichart was a homemaker and had worked as a nurses aid at Valley View Nursing Home in Valley Falls. She had operated Reicharts Sundries and worked for Paul Heinen & Associates, both in Valley Falls. She worked for H& R Block in Topeka. She was born at Thomas, Oklahoma, on Jan. 01, 1910, the daughter of Roy Edgar and Prudence Esther Towell Pratt. She attended rural school in Oklahoma, and later at Greensburg and Burlington, KS, graduating from Onage High School in 1928. She had been a member of the Coal Creek United Methodist Church for 78 years. She was also a member of the United Methodist Women, the Walnut Creek Club, U and I Club, the VFW Auxiliary, and the Literary Ramblers. She married Elmer Clarence Reichart on Jan. 1, 1932, north of Valley Falls. He died on March 29, 1963. She was also preceded in death by her four brothers, Millard, Omer, Kenneth and Gerald Pratt, and a sister, Evalyn Pratt. Survivors include two sons, Rev. Francis LeRoy Reichart, Overland Park, and Galen Reichart, Valley Falls; two daughters, Gwendolyn Marlene Towle, Overland Park, and Lois Beames, Topeka, a sister, Rev. Elva Manuel Douthat; 14 grandchildren; 13 great grandchildren and two great great-grandchildren. A funeral service will be at 2:00 p.m., Tuesday, Jan. 23, 2007, at Mercer Funeral Home in Valley Falls. Burial will be at the Coal Creek Cemetery. Visitation will be from 1:00 p.m., Tuesday, until service time.
