Vincent Rice

Vincent Lee Rice Melvern- Vincent Lee Rice, 37, passed away on Sunday, May 26, 2013 at Melvern Lake. He was born on August 10, 1975 in Ottawa, the son of James and Teresa Walker Rice. Vince had lived most of his life in the Melvern community. He graduated from Marais des Cygnes Valley High School, attended Flint Hills Vo-Tech in Emporia, Salina Vo-Tech for Welding and Divers Academy in New Jersey. He was a welder/boilermaker with Local 83 of the Boilermakers Union in Kansas City, MO. He was a member of the True Grace Community Church near Melvern. Vince was married to Shelly Newsome, she preceded him in death in May of 2007. Vince is survived by his parents, Jim and Teresa Rice of Melvern; his sister, Jenny Hays of Topeka; two step daughters, Michelle Sands-Tipton and Danielle Ferrell; his paternal grandparents, Don and June Rice of Melvern; uncles, aunts and cousins. Funeral services for Vince will be at 6:30pm on Friday, May 31, 2013 at the Feltner Funeral Chapel in Lyndon. Burial will be in the Melvern Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6:30-8:00pm on Thursday at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to Osage County E.M.T.
