David Parsons Obituary
Born Nov. 23, 1951, in Taylor County, he was the son of the late Lawrence E. Parsons and Pauline Smith Parsons.
He professed faith in Christ and was a member of First United Methodist Church. He was a retired schoolteacher with the Taylor County High School, where for 31 years he taught special education and world of work and was the Taylor County High School athletic director, coached boys' and girls' tennis, was assistant boys' and girls' basketball coach and coached golf for twenty years.
He also coached tennis at Campbellsville University for 12 years.
He was married to Brenda Campbell on June 25, 1971. She survives.
Other survivors include two sons, Brandon Parsons and his wife, Miranda, of Campbellsville, and Tyler Parsons and his wife, Beth, of Bowling Green; two grandchildren, Chloe Elizabeth Parsons and David Campbell Parsons; a brother and a sister, Sam Parson and his wife, Margaret, and Glenda Lawson of Campbellsville; his mother-in-law, Nellie Campbell of Campbellsville; a brother-in-law, Steve Campbell and his wife, Sue, of Campbellsville; several nieces and nephews and many other relatives and friends.
Funeral was Thursday, July 2, 2015, at the Parrott & Ramsey Funeral Home in Campbellsville. Dr. Neil Salvaterra and the Revs. Ron Young and Troy Young officiated. Burial followed in Campbellsville Memorial Gardens.
The family requests that expressions of sympathy be donations to First United Methodist Church, which may be made at the funeral home.

I was very saddened by the news. I am so sorry for your loss. I have so many fond memories of Coach. I really appreciated all the hard work he did to help us through our high school years and beyond. He was such a great mentor. I know he will be missed, because he made a big difference for so many of us.

Saddened to hear of David's passing. I believe it's been 30 years since I saw or talked w/ David but I have a lot of very fond memories of playing tennis with him on the Miller Park tennis courts back in the early 80's, and for that matter, traveling to E-town to play in the July 4th tennis tournaments. He had a great sense of humor and was always kind and gracious to me. My thoughts and prayers are with Brenda and family as you morn your loss and celebrate his life.

I was so sad to hear the heartbreaking news about David. He coached both of our boys in tennis and he knew how to bring out the best in them. They benefitted so much by being on his tennis teams. I worked many years with him at TCHS and he was always helpful and pleasant. He could be funny and yet serious about his job. He really cared about his students. Milton and I send our sympathy and we will keep you in our thoughts at this difficult time in your lives.

Saddened to hear about the loss of Coach Parsons. He touched the lives of many kids as we learned about tennis with him. He really pushed us to be our best and could be so funny and serious at the same time. May God touch this heartbroken family and give them peace during this painful time.
