Herman Rattliff Obituary

Herman W. Rattliff, 88, of Campbellsville, died at 2:30 a.m. Thursday, May 29, 2014, in Campbellsville.
Son of the late James William "Jimmy" Rattliff and Estell Dobson Rattliff, he was born April 2, 1926, in Green County, Ky.
He professed faith in Christ and attended St. Mark United Methodist Church.
He was a former Kentucky State Representative for 19 years, having served Taylor, Green, Metcalfe and Marion counties, and served three terms as minority caucus chairman. He was a retired farmer specializing in Charolais cattle, a businessman and former partner with Supertone Studio for 41 years.
He was a veteran of World War II, having served his country honorably in the United States Army, attaining the rank of staff sergeant. He was awarded the Asiatic Pacific Theater Ribbon, the World War II Victory Medal and Good Conduct Medal.
He married Jewell Merritt on March 18, 1951.
Besides his wife, Jewell Rattliff, survivors include a son, Brian Rattliff and his wife, Beth, of Louisville, Ky.; a daughter, Kristi Rattliff Hickerson of Campbellsville; a grandson, Cameron Rattliff and his wife, Natalie, of Louisville; a brother, J.W. Rattliff and his wife, Joyce, of Greensburg, Ky.; a sister, Doris Rodgers and her husband, Junior, of Campbellsville; several nieces and nephews and many other relatives and friends.
He was also preceded in death by three brothers, Vernon Rattliff, Wesley Rattliff and Ronnie Rattliff; and a sister, Willya Cox.
Funeral was Saturday, May 31, at Parrott & Ramsey Funeral Home in Campbellsville. The Rev. Tony Franklin officiated.
Burial was in Campbellsville Memorial Gardens.
Family requests expressions of sympathy be in the form of donations to Galilean Children's Home, and they can be made at the funeral home.
