Samantha Netherland Obituary
Daughter of the late Robert Hayden and Kathy Lynn Hardin Netherland, she was born on Dec. 20, 1997, in Lexington, Ky.
She was a sophomore at Bardstown High School, where she was a member of the academic team, chorus and the young leaders program. She was recently accepted into the Gatton Academy Program at Western Kentucky University and was a member of Parkway Baptist Church.
Survivors include a sister, Holly Alyssa Netherland of Bardstown; her maternal grandparents, Norris Lee and Betty Lou Bryan Hardin of Bardstown; five aunts, Margaret Gayle Clark and Stephanie (Jamie) Clark Thompson, both of Bardstown, Ky., Pamela (Beau) Adams of Louisville, Ky., Stacey (David) Hibbard of Springfield, Ky., and Carla (Richard) Hodges of North Carolina; two uncles, Jeffrey (Brooke) Hardin of Louisville, Ky., and Jan (Jill) Netherland of Florida.
She was also preceded in death by her maternal grandparents, Charles Edwin and Margaret Lewis McCubbin Netherland.
Visitation is today, Monday, April 28, after 8:30 a.m. at Parkway Baptist Church in Bardstown. Funeral will follow at 11. Dr. James Carroll will officiate.
Burial will be in Bardstown Cemetery.
Expressions of sympathy have been requested to Special Olympics Kentucky, Humane Society and Bardstown High School chorus or academic team.
Houghlin-Greenwell Funeral Home in Bardstown is in charge of arrangements.

Dear family and friends of Samantha, please accept my deepest condolences. There really are no words to express the heartfelt sadness one feels when a young life is extinguished. Time and unexpected events befall us all, states Ecclesiastes 9:11. May the God who is binding up the brokenhearted and comforting those mourning be of comfort to you during this most difficult time. Dearest Samantha, as an I academy student, I am mourning the loss of time I would have spent with you. I never got the chance to meet you, but I still love you. I will carry you in heart throughout next year. You will still be a part of our Gatton family.
