Janice "Jan" Kendrick, 74, of Hot Springs Village, Ark., went to be with the Lord on April 2, 2008. She was born in Clarinda, Iowa on September 15, 1933, the daughter of the late C.R. (Bill) Kelley and Rae Higgins Kelley.
Janice married Darwin Kendrick of Villisca, Iowa on March 9, 1952. To this union were born four daughters: Kimberly Kendrick, Terryl Budde, Kelly Kendrick and Paulette "Cori" Currey.
Janice belonged to the Society of Mayflower Descendants, The Daughters of the American Revolution and the National Society of Colonial Dames XVII Century. She was an avid researcher of her family tree as she descended from four Mayflower families. Her other hobby was traveling all over the world. She visited over 26 countries and many islands and every state.
Janice retired from the US Postal Service and was a member of the Christ of the Hills United Methodist Church in Hot Springs Village, Ark.
A brother, Conrad Kelley, preceded Mrs. Kendrick in death.
Survivors include her husband of 56 years, Darwin E. Kendrick of Hot Springs Village, Ark.; four daughters: Kelly Kendrick of DeWitt, Mich., Kimberly Kendrick of Chicago, Ill., Terryl Budde of Pompano Beach, Fla., and Cori Currey of Roscoe, Ill.; a sister, Karen Foote of Beaverton, Ore., and eight beloved grandchildren: Brandon Bartkowiak, Casey Sinclair, Cydney Currey, Kayleigh Chapman, Ian Currey, Olivia Currey, Amanda Kendrick, and Kaitlin Rodde.
Memorial service will be at Walker-Merrick Funeral Home in Clarinda, Iowa at 10 a.m. on April 19, 2008. Interment will be in Memory Cemetery in New Market, Iowa. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Alzheimer's Association.
