Clarinda, IAFeb. 7, 1944-Oct. 31, 2011

Funeral services for John Minard, age 67, of Clarinda, Iowa, who entered into peace Monday, October 31, 2011 at Clarinda Regional Health Center, Clarinda, Iowa following a courageous battle with cancer, was held 10:30 a.m., Thursday, November 3, 2011, at the First Christian Church, Clarinda, Iowa with Reverend Beckie Linn Gregory officiating..  Visitation with the family was held 5-7 p.m., Wednesday, November 2, 2011 at Ritchie Funeral Home, Clarinda, Iowa.  Burial was in the Clarinda Cemetery, Clarinda, Iowa.   Memorials may be directed to the First Christian Church, Nodaway Valley Historical Museum or to the Tarkio Valley Antique Tractor Club.  Memories and condolences may be shared with the family on our website at, http://www.ritchiefuneralhome.com">www.ritchiefuneralhome.com under Obituaries.  Arrangements were entrusted to the Ritchie Funeral Home of Clarinda, Iowa.

John David Minard, son of Harold "Bibs" and Irene (Fleck) Minard was born at the Clarinda Municipal Hospital on February 7, 1944.  John graduated from the Clarinda High School in 1963.  He then entered the Clarinda Community College Mechanical Technology program and graduated in 1965.  Following his college graduation he enlisted in the United States Air Force from 1965-1969, and served our country during the Vietnam conflict.  While at Junior College, he met on a blind date, and later married Teresa Luree Hummel on October 20, 1968 at the First Christian Church in Oakland, Iowa.  They were blessed with two children, Lisa Luree and Michael John.

John retired from Lisle Corporation on March 3, 2010 after 41 years.  He worked for a brief time in the engineering department and then became the Foreman of the Turret Lathe department.  John was currently on the board of the First Christian Church, board member of the Nodaway Valley Museum and a member of the Tarkio Valley Antique Tractor Club.

Since a young boy, John has always enjoyed hunting, fishing and farming.  He recently collected and restored several antique tractors.  John liked to do carpentry work, remodeling every room in their home, and helping others with their remodeling projects.  He was a true handy-man, whatever needed fixed or repaired, John could do it.  John especially loved being a grandpa, and enjoyed watching and playing with his four grandkids.

Preceding John in death were his parents; George Harold "Bibs" and Iva Irene (Fleck) Minard; brother, H. Edwin Minard and wife Donna; sister-in-law, MaDonna Minard and brother-in-law, Gene Compton; sister-in-law, Denise Hummel.

Left to cherish his memory are his wife, Teresa of Clarinda, Iowa; children, Lisa Luree (Minard) Hull and husband Curtis of Clarinda, Iowa and Michael John Minard and wife Stacy (Novacek)  Minard of Omaha, Nebraska; grandchildren, Jacob Dean Hull, Anna Luree Hull, Stasia Lynn Minard and Parker Michael Minard; brothers, Clyde Minard and wife Ursula of Norwalk, Iowa and Ron Minard of Cabot, Arkansas; sisters, Dorothy Compton of Tuscon, Arizona, Darlene Garrett and husband Wayne of Altoona, Iowa and L. Elaine Luzmoor and husband Richard of Clarinda, Iowa; brother-in-law, Terrance Hummel and wife Wanda of Oakland, Iowa; sister-in-law, Kathy (Hummel) Dalton and husband Chuck of Hastings, Iowa and twenty four nieces and nephews that he thought so much of and many, many friends from near and far.

May God grant comfort and peace to all those who mourn his passing.
