Lula Merriett 1926-2022 Lula Merriett, 96, of Clarinda, Iowa, passed away Tuesday, December 27, 2022, at Azria Care, Clarinda, Iowa. Graveside funeral services will be held 10:30 a.m., Saturday, January 7, 2023 at High Prairie Cemetery, Elmo, Missouri with Doris McKinnon officiating. Lula Marie Merriett was born July 9, 1926 in Burlington Junction, Missouri to Fletcher Jones Sheets and Violet Lula (Farquhar) Sheets. She grew up in the Burlington Junction area and graduated from Burlington Junction High School. Lula was united in marriage July 11, 1947 in Troy, Kansas to William Edward Merriett. They were blessed with one son, Larry. Bill moved to California to work in construction and in 1955, Lula and Larry moved there to join him. Lula worked at Coats and Clark for twenty years. She then started doing home health care which she really enjoyed. Lula loved doing Latch hook rugs and coming home in the summer to see her parents and her sister, Marilyn, Gene and family. Lula moved back to Clarinda September 2020 to be close to family. She lived at Southview apartments until health issues moved her to Azria Health in Clarinda. Lula always looked forward to Larry and family coming every year to see her for her birthday. Preceding Lula in death were her parents; husband, William Merriett (1983); brothers, Vernon Lowell Sheets and Marvin Rex Sheets. Left to cherish her memory are her son, Larry Merriett and wife Betty of Sparks, Nevada; granddaughters, Tracy McDonald and husband Kyle of Sparks, Nevada and Carrie Merriett and Jess Kohler of Reno, Nevada; sister, Marilyn Mulkins and husband Gene of Clarinda; nephews, David Mulkins and wife Gayrea of Clarinda, and Johnny Merriett and wife Lourdes of Downey, California; niece, Rhonda Campbell of Clarinda; seven great nieces and nephews and many friends.
