MERRILL LARSON

Merrill Dean Larson 1937-2022 Merrill Dean Larson, 85 of New Market, Iowa, died on October 12, 2022, at Bedford Specialty Care in Bedford, Iowa. He was born on May 24th, 1937, in rural Page County, Iowa, the 5th child of Herby and Lilly (Johnson) Larson. He attended Prairie Gem Country School and graduated from New Market High School in 1956. Merrill worked in Omaha, NE as a cement mason until joining the Army in 1959. He was stationed in Germany while overseas. He loved his time-serving his country. After his time in the military, he had held several jobs through the years, he co-owned the Larson Locker in New Market, Iowa, worked on the power plant in Brownville, NE, worked for Morton Buildings, and then retired from the Lisle Corporation. Merrill was united in marriage to Harryette Ann Anderson on June 5th. 1966 at the Little Brown Church in Nashua, IA. They lived their entire married life in New Market, Iowa. To this union, Shannon Rene' was born January 3, 1974. Merrill loved farming, fishing with his family and friends, and the Iowa Hawkeyes. Merrill was preceded in death by his parents, his in-laws Duane and Helen (Pullan) Anderson; brothers, Brad and Retha Larson, Dallas and Sarah Larson (Billings), Verlin Larson, and Gary Larson; sisters, Ruby and Jerry Wilson, Donna and Forland Hill. Left to cherish the memories of a loving husband, father, brother and friend are his wife Harryette Larson of New Market, Iowa; daughter Shannon Larson of Grimes, Iowa; brothers Darwin Larson and wife Sharon of Fargo, North Dakota, and Lyndall Larson and wife Joyce of New Market, Iowa; sisters-in-law Shirley Larson of Clarinda, IA and Teri Larson of Bedford, IA; brother-in-law Joe Anderson and wife Jane of Cameron, MO, plus nieces, nephews, and many friends.
