Funeral services for Michael Durfey, age 39, of Clarinda who entered into peace Monday, Dec. 3 at his home in Clarinda, were held 10:30 a.m., Thursday, Dec. 6 at Ritchie Funeral Home, Clarinda with Reverend Andrew Rubenking officiating. Visitation with the family was held 5-7 p.m., Wednesday, Dec. 5, at the funeral home. Burial was in the Oak Grove Cemetery, rural Clarinda. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the Mike Durfey Memorial Fund. Memories and condolences may be shared with the family on our website at, www.ritchiefuneralhome.com under Obituaries. Arrangements were entrusted to the Ritchie Funeral Home of Clarinda.
Michael Dean Durfey was born February 16, 1973, in Clarinda, to Wilbur Durfey and Dorothy (McCall) Durfey. He was a lifelong resident of Clarinda, attending Clarinda schools and graduating from Clarinda High School in 1991. Mike was united in marriage Sept. 4, 2004, to Jennifer Powers in Clarinda. This union was blessed with three children, Darian, Marshall and Quinn.
Mike worked for Hy-vee during his high school years and following graduation he worked for Lisle Corporation where he was currently employed in assembly.
Mike's children were his passion; he was very involved in their lives and especially enjoyed coaching their sports activities. He also liked to watch sports, supporting the Atlanta Braves, Atlanta Falcons, with a strong dedication to the Florida State Seminoles.
Mike was preceded in death by his father, Wilbur Durfey and sister, Debbie Farmer.
Left to cherish his memory are his wife, Jen Durfey of Clarinda, Iowa; children, Darian, Marshall and Quinn of Clarinda; mother, Dorothy Durfey of Clarinda; brother, Randy Durfey and wife Lisa of Clarinda; sisters, Deanna Harris and husband, Lanny of Clarinda, Denise Pierce and husband Chuck of Jefferson City, Missouri, Janice Barr of Clarinda, Denny Neville of Wilcox, Missouri, Mary Collier of Clarinda; other relatives and many friends.
Mike loved to laugh and have fun and was a great friend. He will missed by his loving family and friends.
Mike will be forever in their hearts. May God grant comfort and peace to those who mourn his passing.
