Celebration of Life Services for Olga Simmons age 73, of Clarinda who passed away Monday, Oct. 14, at Methodist Hospital in Omaha, Neb. were held Thursday, Oct. 17, at 10:30 a.m. at the Ritchie Funeral Home in Clarinda. Visitation was Wednesday evening from 5-7 p.m. at the Ritchie Funeral Home in Clarinda. Interment was held in the Clarinda Cemetery. Memorials may be given in Olga's name. Memories may be shared at www.ritchiefuneralhome.com. Arrangements were entrusted to the Ritchie Funeral Home of Clarinda.
Olga Lee Simmons, 73, Clarinda entered into peace Monday, Oct. 14 at Methodist Hospital in Omaha, Neb. following a long illness.
Olga Lee Simmons was born Nov. 23, 1939, at Clarinda, to Merrill Max Good and Olga Maxine (Scholey) Good. She lived in Clarinda all her life, Her parents divorced and her mother drowned when she was ten. She was raised by her grandparents Wade and Eva Scholey on 10th Street in Clarinda. She has a special friend, Deanna Cade Warneke, that also grew up on 10th Street. Olga graduated from the Clarinda High School in 1957.
Olga loved horses, horse sales and horse shows. She married Roland Simmons July 31, 1976. They had a daughter Audra Leigh Simmons. She found her next passion at the House of Flowers in the 80's. She loved being a florist and loved the people she worked for throughout the years. Olga's last place of employment was the Clarinda Flower Shop. She had worked as a florist for 35 years. Olga also had a love for her cats, many, many cats from the time she was a young girl until her death.
Olga Lee loved to go to the casino and to Red Lobster with her daughter. She loved working outside in her backyard. Olga was a key member to the First Christian Church; she loved decorating it at Christmas.
Preceding Olga in death was her husband, Roland Simmons, mother, Olga Maxine Scholey, father, Merrill Max Good, and step-mother, Sara Good.
Left to cherish her memory are her daughter and son-in-law, Audra and Ken Meyers of Clarinda; grandson and great-granddaughters, Donavon and Emerie Simmons of Prairie Grove, Ark., and Josey Wheelbarger of College Springs; granddaughter, husband and great-grandbabies, Dani, Trevor, Charlie and Jonathan Mertes of Coin; grandson, Brandon Meyers of Clarinda; Shelby Meyers of Clarinda; sister and husband, Sandi and Larry Watkins of Alliance, Neb.; brother, Max E. Good of Carthage, Mo.; and many cousins.
Olga will be remembered as a loving mother and
grandmother. May God grant comfort and strength to those who mourn her passing.
