Paul Frederick Van Fosson was born in Page County, Iowa, near Clarinda, on December 10, 1920 the son of John and Rosa (Blake) Van Fosson, and passed away October 12, 2008 in Shenandoah, Iowa. He grew up in Page County where he attended rural schools and then graduated, from Amity High School in College Springs, Iowa in 1938.
He was a "Yell Leader" during high school and also played baseball on the College Springs town team. After his formal schooling he started farming and on April 3, 1943 was married to Lola Lee Snodderley in Kansas City, Missouri. They continued farming and moved to their farm two miles east of College Springs where they farmed for forty-three years before retiring.
Paul is survived by four children, Connie Stange of Shenandoah, Iowa; Linda Davison and husband Bob of Farmington, Minnesota; Ron Van Fosson and wife Rosita of Kimberling City, Missouri; and Carol Kendrick and husband Kerry of Corinth, Texas; eleven grandchildren; fifteen great-grandchildren; one brother Leo Van Fosson and wife Alice of Mission, Texas; one sister-in-law June Van Fosson of Clarinda; nieces and nephews.
Preceding him in death were his parents; his wife Lola on May 20, 2005; and four brothers Howard and his wife Isabelle Van Fosson, Ray Van Fosson, Joe and wife Lois Van Fosson, and Carl and wife Fern Van Fosson.
Funeral services for Paul Van Fosson were held 11 a.m. Thursday at the United Presbyterian Church, College Springs, Iowa with Pastor Jim Crapson officiating. Interment was at Maple Hill Cemetery, College Springs. Memorials are suggested to United Presbyterian Church, College Springs. The Tradition of Walker-Merrick Funeral Home provided arrangements.
