Roy Engleka 1950-2021 Roy Engleka, 71, of Creston, died Sunday, November 14, 2021at the Clearview Home in Mount Ayr. A Celebration of Life Services will be 2 p.m. Friday, November 19, 2021 at the Powers Funeral Home 601 New York Avenue in Creston. Pastor Mary O'Riley will officiate. www.powersfh.com. Roy Fredrick Engleka, son of Fredrick M. Engleka and Doris M. (Houston) Engleka, was born October 14, 1950 in Clarinda. He graduated from Clarinda High School in 1969 and later earned his Bachelor Degree in Business at the University of Northern Iowa. He worked with numerous K-Mart stores in the Chicago area. He moved to Creston in 1983, where he worked at the local K-Mart as assistant manager. In 1985, Roy married Angela Jo Hook in Creston. Theysettled and worked all of their married life in Creston. Roy went on to work at Radio Shack and Chat Mobility in Creston, until retiring in 2013. Roy was a member of the Elks Lodge of Creston; he was a former member of the Creston Kiwanis Club and the First Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) where he served as a deacon and helped with the taxis ministry. Roy was also a long-time member of the Pine Valley Golf Club. Survivors include his wife, Angela Engleka, step-son, Courtney Rouh of Emmetsburg; a step-daughter, Shannon (Charlie) Abell of Orient; three grandchildren; Owen Gandee, Molly and Elizabeth Rouh; a sister, Kay (Huey) Rowen of Sheridan, Mo.; four sisters-in-law, Judy Engleka of Visalia, Calif., Lisa (John) Shaw of Creston, Teresa Hook of Marshfield, Wisc. and Sandee Hook Carlsbad, Calif.; brother-in-law, Tracy (Jan) Hook of Urbandale; and many nieces, nephews and other extended family. Roy was preceded in death by his parents, and his brother, Merle Engleka and two brothers-in-law, Lanny and Scott Hook.
