Mr. Blount was my AP Chemistry teacher at Luella High School. I absolutely loved coming to his class every day and learned so much that year. He was always at the top of my list of favorite teachers, and I credit so much of my success in the sciences to him and the hard work he instilled in me. I am now a science teacher myself, and hope I can one day become as great as he was. I will always remember dragging myself to early morning AP labs and Mr. Blount had bought us all breakfast :) My thoughts are with his family and he will be missed!

Mr. Blount was one of the most influential teachers I ever had. He was not just a teacher, but also a friend. I haven't seen him since his class, but I've always imagined him teaching in another school and helpling students the same way he helped me. I am so sorry to hear this. He will be greatly missed.

I had the great fortune of being one of Mr. Blount's students for Chemistry (I & II) and Physics at Harrison Central HS. He was my most influential teacher and I can trace the impetus of my career in engineering to Mr. Blount's classes. He will truly be missed. My prayers go out to his family during this time of their loss.

Mr. Blount was an excellent teacher and a caring individual. I appreciate the time he took to make sure that we understood the material as well as the moments he took to make us laugh in order to soothe the panic some of us (me) might have felt. I am saddened to hear of his untimely death! I send my prayers and sympathy to his family. God be with you during this time of sadness.

Dear Mrs. Blount, James, and Timothy,
I had the wonderful pleasure of working wtih Mr. Blount at Stockbridge High School and then I was excitedly reunited with him again at Strong Rock Christian School a few years ago. I considered him my mentor as a fellow chemistry teacher and although I learned a ton from him, I can only dream of being half the teacher that he was. It was so obvious the mutual respect that went on in the classroom between Mr. Blount and his students. He was a very loved and respected man. I loved teaching with him, but also loved getting to know him on a personal level. He adored his wife and was always so proud of his boys! He also loved talking of his passions for hunting, fishing, and gardening. He made me feel like family as he also took an interest in me and my family, and was always there for advice. I will certainly miss Mr. Blount, but will always have fond, fond memories of this wonderful man. My thoughts and prayers will be continually with you. With love.

I am extremely saddened to learn of Mr. Blount's death, and my heart goes out to his family. Mr. Blount was one of my very favorite teachers and his excellent teaching prepared me well for college. While he was indeed a talented teacher, he was an even greater man - he truly cared for all of us. He certainly had a great influence in my life, as I can still remember conversations we had when I was a teenager over 30 years ago. Rest in peace, Mr. Blount.

When I look back at high school, Mr. Blount stands out as my favorite teacher. Ever. He not only knew how to teach, conduct class, kid around, he knew how to relate to his students. I recall that he invited our entire class to his house in Long Beach for a BBQ! What teacher does that? I still think about him from time to time and wonder how many lives he touched. I knew then that I'd be an engineer and he reinforced that in me. The world needs more men like Mr. Blount. HCHS Class of 1980

Mr. Blount was my favorite teacher, the best teacher I had at HCHS and also the reason I went to Mississippi State University. I still remember some of the things he taught me about chemistry and physics, but I remember most of all his genuine interest in his students and his positive and encouraging words. I also remember that he laughed and joked a lot, but always had the respect of his students. My prayer is for comfort, peace and that you can find joy in knowing that he truly made a difference in the lives of those he encountered. God bless you all.

Alan and I were close friends through high school and college. Unfortunately, our paths diverged as we both pursued carreers and family. We did keep in touch through email and mutual friends. Al and I spent many hours riding bikes, playing ball, hunting, and various other activities as we grew up together. I will remember those good times and miss ou old friend.

Mr. Blount taught me biology at HCHS and he was my next door neighbor for a few years. He was an awesome teacher and I learned a lot from him. When passing thru town I always wonder what happened to him and Mr. Lamb. His partner in crime at HCHS. We will miss you and wish your family the best.
Sorry for your loss.

Alan was a dear friend to us, as is Margaret and "the boys" from our time in McDonough, GA. I was their former pastor at First Baptist Church. Alan was a flat-out brilliant. Besides his academic acumen, Alan had the gift of sharing his passion for learning with students and they responded with love and respect. Alan was a dedicated Christian and an excellent minister. It was a blessing to work with him in Sunday School. Alan was a gourmet chef. He could cook anything, and we all loved his gumbo especially. Alan was a loving and devoted husband and father. Alan had a quick wit, a ready smile, and a delightful chuckle when he laughed. I enjoyed talking with Alan about his hunting expertise and the Mississippi State Bulldogs. We have all been blessed by Alan is so many ways. We extend our prayers to all of the family. May the Lord provide for you his comfort and abiding presence. We love you, Jim and Susan
