Betsy Covington, 84, passed away of complications from Alzheimer's on August 11, 2013, at Golden Living Nursing Home in Meridian.

Visitation will be from 5:00 - 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday August 13 in the Parish Hall at the Chapel of the Cross on Mannsdale Road in Madison. Services will be held at the Chapel of the Cross at 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday August 14, preceded by visitation at 9:30. Graveside services will be held at the Magnolia Cemetery in Magnolia, MS at 2:30 PM Hartman-Sharkey Funeral Home of McComb is handling arrangements.

Mrs. Covington was a graduate of the University of Tennessee, where she was a Torchbearer and President of Phi Mu sorority. She earned her Masters in Home Economics from MS University for Women. She was an Episcopal Lay reader and Altar Guild member and was a member of the Daughters of American Revolution (DAR). She moved to Madison, MS with her husband, Aston, after he retired. She deeply loved her family. Her warm smile and steady support will be missed greatly.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Aston, her brother, and her parents. She is survived by daughters Gai C. Craig of Birmingham, AL and Gusta C. Stanford (Rick) of Madison, MS; and five grandchildren, Heather C. Bailey (Jason), Ian Craig (Meghan), Becca Craig, Emily S. Smith (Justin), and Matt Stanford.

In lieu of flowers, the family respectfully requests memorial donations to Alzheimer's Association - MS, 196 Charmant Drive, Suite 4, Ridgeland, MS 39157 or Chapel of the Cross, 674 Mannsdale Road, Madison, MS 39110.
